Beeno Cook is a blow hard who pretty much hates west coast football and really just by listening to that you can tell he doesn't pay attention to UO at all. When I lived in Seattle (till 06) he would be on KJR and would put UO down and talked up UW and really loves Notre Dame. Really he is one of the DS media that keeps Notre Dame at the for front even though they haven't been relivent since Lou was in S.Bend.

Maisel said, "I think Mike Belloti has been perennially one of the under rated guys in this business", and Beano replied, "Oh, Absolutely! Absolutely!... the game between Miami and Nebraska, for the National Championship. That was played, and, uh, the big dispute was Oregon... A lot of people felt Oregon should have been in the game. Do I have this corectly? Nebraska got killed in the conference title game, correct?".

Maisel: Lost to Colorado, 62-36... And a lot of people thought Colorado should have been in the game...

Beano: So it was Colorado over Nebraska... Aren't they in the same diivision? That was the last game of the year, wasn't it?

Maisel: Uh, you're right, excuse me, you're right... But that meant Colorado won the division, did they not? (These guys sound like idiots.)

Beano: I don't remember, but whatever it was, Nebraska ended up playing for the National Title, against Miami, and a lot of people thought it should be... It should be, uh, Oregon...And I didn't necessarily agree with that, but after the game I did, because, Miami, at the game... It was played in the Rose Bowl, and if I recall, uh, Miami won, easily, easily.

Maisel: It was 35-14, and the game was over before anybody's hot dogs got cold...

Beano: ... You know, it's not easy to win at Oregon... The problem with Oregon, what's happened now, all these people from California moving to Oregon, which kinda drops the average IQ for the state, with all those people from California moving in. ... Not east to win there. Not easy to win... So he did a heckuva job, as good as he could do there.

Although Beano is obviously enamoured with the sound of his own voice, I think that is the closest to a complement I ever heard Beano give an Oregon coach.

Then he has to spoil the mood by saying: You can get lucky every so often, not lucky, you can win, but you can't win on a consistent basis at Oregon in Football...

Maisel: Uh, Mike Belloti retires as the third winningest coach in terms of victories, in the PAC-10, trailing Terry Donahue, and Don James...

Beano: No kidding, that's a great stat! I had no idea...

Maisel: Yeah...

Beano: He had more than John McKay, then?

What a maroon!

No real respect for Kelly taking over at Oregon from Belloti, because they apparently don't feel that an assistant moving up to HC at the same institution is a recipe for success... Overlooking Belloti's record, again.
Autzen Stadium... Where great teams go to die...Hard!

Yeah, I thought that was pretty funny to Wounded and that fact that neither even brought up the UO KILLED CU in the Fiesta. I doubt Cook even new that part of it.

I listen to their podcast pretty regularly. Not a fan of Beano, but Ivan Maisel usually has some pretty solid insights. He's one of the few that watches Pac-10 quite a bit, and he was a huge Dennis Dixon fan early on and actually thought it was a travesty that Dennis wasn't invited to the Heisman ceremony.

Not saying Maisel is right or wrong in this instance, just that the past two years he really has shown Oregon some love.

I liked the part after they were discussing Mike Bellotti about how rare it was for coordinators to successfully take over their own programs--which is only exactly what MB had done for fourteen years.

Beano is stuck on stupid and even has the power to make Maisel seem dumb.

Beano seems to be living in his own little world (unfortunately its back in the 50's and 60's).
When he starts talkin Norm Van Brocklin and Terry Baker, as his last recollections of the quality Oregon grown football players, I almost died laughing...
One does need to recognize that a state with the population of Oregon obviously is not going to produce as many quality players as our overpopulated state to the South, but c'mon...I did hear Dan Fouts name come up...But not from Beano's mouth...I am thinkin that Beano and Joe Paterno could enjoy each others company for hours, if not days, weeks, or months on end, speaking their thoughts of senility to each other...lol

Some people are stuck in the football era they grew up in and haven't recognized the changes that have occurred in the NCAA over the last 10 years.

That was like listening to two eight-year-old know it all's try to explain the economy to you
"It's hard to consistently win at Oregon" BS, Bellotti has been doing it for years. Beano's just had his head so far up the SEC's butt he hasn't had time to give us a look.
