Spring Depth Chart from Andy McNamara
Here is the Spring Depth Chart according to Andy McNamara...
http://www.goducks.com//ViewArticle.dbm ... ID=3701972
A few things of interest from looking at it:
* Brandon Bair is not only listed at defensive tackle instead of defensive end, but is listed ahead of Tonio Celotto. Hopefully Bair steps up big since his versatility to play both tackle and end as need arises will help greatly over the next couple of years.
* Chad Peppars is listed as a rover rather than cornerback. If he remains there, it will help provide some safety depth next season and the season following.
* Terrance Pritchett remains unlisted. I wonder what the odds are he ever dons an Oregon uniform again? Can any insiders provide some insight?

Re: Spring Depth Chart from Andy McNamara
I thought this was the best tidbit from the article:
SEASON OPENER AT BOISE STATE
Contrary to several media reports today, Oregon's season opener at Boise State has not been officially moved from Saturday, Sept. 5, to Thursday, Sept. 3. Could it happen? Absolutely. Will it happen? Personally, I hope so, but it is not set in stone at this point. Keep your browser pointed at GoDucks.com and we'll let you know of any changes as they become official.

I would think that TJ Ward would play rover next year, not FS. We need some top notch speed at FS.
I think Eddie Pleasant will be a big surprise next year. If he can remain healthy, he can really help out in both the run and in pass coverage. Dude can hit too.

Where do you want him to play? H-back is basically our TE in different formations, etc. Is he a RB? Not unless a ton of severe injuries took place. He hasn't played one down at RB since he's been here. Most say he isn't fast enough.fpsduck wrote:Malachi Lewis @ H-back.

Re: Spring Depth Chart from Andy McNamara
So, I emailed Andy and asked him a few questions about the depth chart. I asked him if the depth chart came from the coaches or were just his best guesses. Also, I asked him why Carson York was not included on the depth chart. Here is the email he sent me in reply...
"This is the coaches depth chart. York is no longer on the squad."
What the hell??? Is this simply a case of Andy making a mistake? Carson York no longer being on the squad would come as a huge surprise to me and would make the already thin offensive line depth even worse. The reason why this would be so shocking is that Carson's dad posts on the Rivals message board and I have seen absolutely no indication from him that Carson is no longer on the squad. In fact, he said on the Rivals message board this morning that "They omitted Carson York from the chart, so it makes OL depth look worse than it is." Unless I am reading that wrong, this seems to imply he believes his son's omission from the depth chart is simply a mistake. I would think that Carson's dad would know if he was no longer on the squad???
Can any insiders comment on this?

Another reason this is hard to believe is that Rivals interviewed Greatwood not that long ago for a series of articles on the young offensive linemen. One of those articles focused on York and Greatwood didn't give any indication that York wouldn't be a part of the plans next season.

Re: Spring Depth Chart from Andy McNamara
I don't have any inside information. But, I would take info and e-mail from Andy McNamara with a grain of salt.
Remember when he first set the blog up and ran the contest for choosing the name? He said that the winner would get a media guide, signed by someone in the program. I won that by entering "Duck Feed." At first, he didn't call or email to tell me anything directly about it (asking for an address, etc). I had to contact him about it and then didn't receive the guide for over a month. And, it wasn't signed by anyone.
Not a big deal. It was better than nothing and I was just happy that my title would survive on something officially Duck.
But, that whole exchange, along with another e-mail response to a question I asked, gave me the impression that he didn't really care to interact with fans.
I don't know if York is on the team or not. But, I wouldn't be surprised if he is and McNamara just mixed him up with someone else or something and didn't bother to double-check.

Re: Spring Depth Chart from Andy McNamara
Yeah, I agree. If he would have said Terrance Pritchett is no longer on the squad (maybe that is what he meant to say?), I would have found it much easier to believe. I replied to his email asking if he is sure that Carson York is not on the squad any longer. It will be interesting to see what he has to say, if he replies.wheaton4prez wrote:I don't know if York is on the team or not. I'm curious too. Let us know.
You never know. Maybe he was leaking something that hasn't been made public yet. Let's hope not and York is all good with the Ducks.

Looks like Andy isn't 100% sure now. Hopefully this was just a false alarm, but we shall see. Here is the email he just sent me in response to my email questioning the accuracy of the claim that York is no longer on the squad...
"I'll double check. Could be a different lineman."

That's brutal reporting by Andy...good grief! I don't know if I'm alone on this but I stopped reading articles (or whatever) from GODUCKS.com because they just don't give very good info! But maybe I'm just spoiled from C4Q I don't know! I highly doubt its York!
