ASU renovating Sun Devil Stadium

$300 million over the next 4-5 years. They will decrease seating capacity and install fabric panels to provide shade to the fans.

Is it common to drop up to 10k of seating during a renovation? That seems counter-intuitive and honestly dumb.

I know they don't usually sell out, so that's not a big deal, but this just calls out settling for mediocrity to me. It's like they are expecting never to be a top Pac-12 team.

Odd. Looks cool though.

Seems pretty stupid to me too, but I guess they have their reasons.
So Washington, Cal and ASU all get huge remodels, when do we get ours :(?

Do you expect them to be a top Pac-12 team?

The few times I have been at Devil Stadium, it has been no where near full, but I did get a dandy sunburn... Maybe reality set in?

Not really. But I mean they were good back in the Andrew Walter days, no reason they can't finish 2nd consistently in their division with an occasional first place finish every 5+ years. Best case scenario.

That looks awesome. I've been to ASU a handful of times and can understand why they would want to renovate Sun Devil Stadium (and add a roof). I realize that they pretty much only play night games, but it's still like 90 degree at 9 pm in September. If ASU is able to keep more of their in state kids, then they certainly could be the 2nd best team in the South division. That's also assuming that UCLA doesn't get its **** together.

$300 million is a lot. That's more than what Cal and UW are paying to renovate their stadium and ASU doesn't strike me as the type of school that can afford something like this. Are they going to get the state to contribute?

I have a hunch Rich Rod will run that state in about 3-5 years.

It called hope. I dont expect them to be, but you would hope they hope to get there.

Once in a decade they rise to the top.
