Did anyone else think that Costa's knee looks pretty darn good?

Yea he looked surprisingly nimble in those drills. The guy from those shots I was very unimpressed with was justin roper. He looked slow and unathletic in the footwork drill with the dummies. I also think its clear that Masoli has seperated himself from the pack for good.

Ropes spin move was pretty legit, as usual. This makes me feel a lot better about qb. If Costa can prove a capable backup and stay healthy then it should allow DT to redshirt. The WR corps looks solid and with Diante and Gaines on the way should be really solid. Also didn't see or hear Allioti in the video?

Costa looks great...I was surprised to see him moving around that much...I see him challenging Masoli for the job if the knee continues to hold up.

It was disgustingly obvious to me that Roper is basically removed from the QB race. He is too slow, too tall, and even though his throw is looking better, he just can't keep up with what Masoli, DT, and Costa are doing out there. But as Snapt said, I think we have enough depth to allow DT to redshirt this year (knock on wood) WR's are looking great. I love the drills they were doing where they would throw a fake, hit the guy, and run by him. There's a lot of athleticism that I haven't seen in previous years. Didn't really get a good chance to watch the defense or O-line, but hopefully they'll post another video highlighting those positions. Overall I'm very impressed with what the coaches are doing with these guys. I think they have a real shot at doing something special.
In Helfrich, Frost, and Allioti we trust

Not only did Costa look good on his knee, but so did DJ (Drew) Davis. He had knee surgery too, right? And wasn't it not that long ago?

Yeah, very nice to see Davis running around out there. In my opinion, he could become the Ducks' best receiver next season if his knee holds up and he can get over the mental hurdles involved with running and cutting at full speed when coming back from a major knee injury.

I believe Davis had surgery following the season last year? If my memory serves...

I don't know the exact date of his surgery, but Davis tore his ACL during the Stanford game and was scheduled to have surgery within the next couple weeks following that. At the time they thought it would sideline him through spring drills, so he is ahead of schedule.

I think the video misposted the name for #23 - that looks like Maehl to me. Davis is #10 and is only on the sidelines this spring. They don't want him to have contact.

Davis was wearing a red #23 jersey, which means no contact, but he was participating in the passing drills with everyone else. Maehl also had a #23 jersey on, but is was white for the offense.

Also, I think we will handle Thomas this year like we were handing Costa on 1007, before he got injured, where he will travel to every game with the intent of redshirting, unless needed for emergency due to injuries. Costa would have been lifted from his redshirt at Arizona when Dixon went down, bad had already torn is knee up the week or two before.
