Probably because the post is toughest stadiums to play in vs. toughest teams to play against in their stadium. USC fans are often shown on TV as fans who dont even pay attention to the game but rather spend their time talking to each other about whatever vs. actually watching the game.

Lakers games tend to be the same way when they show the fans.

This is true. LA fans are some of (if not) the biggest bandwagoners around. When things are going good (expected to win a championship) the venues can be electric. On average though, they don't hold a candle to places like Autzen, the Horse Shoe, Death Valley, etc...
