Several things about this sucks.
1. It was great to see the Beav's having a good run. Good for the state, good for the Civil War.
2. Que the we didn't have Mannion excuses.

QB excuses don't count until they are playing a 5th string JC transfer who didn't arrive until after the start of fall camp.

Considering he continued to play on it, that seems like the likely issue. However, without getting into the knee itself, it is merely speculation at this point. Reports are that the knee was fairly swollen so an MRI would have been useless. If it a meniscus though, depending on the severity, he could be looking at as little as 2-4 weeks and as long as 8-12. I don't wish injury on anyone or any team so I hope that it is the shorter of those timeframes. Looking at the Beavs schedule, I don't see why they can't win the next 3 games. BYU can barely move the ball but has a good defense. Utah looks to be very beatable and UW doesn't look like anything special at this point. The OSU OL and D will need to step up big time but I don't see why they can't get through these next 3 weeks. The OL will be key in getting Vaz comfortable and being able to open up holes for Woods/get the ball to Cooks and Wheaton. The D will need to force TO's and create some short fields for the offense to put some points on the board. WIth all that being said, I don't see why they can't win the next 3 games and hopefully get Mannion back in time for ASU.

Experience would suggest that, if the surgeon repairs a meniscus tear, rather than simply removing any debris, the recovery time will be significantly longer... It all depends on the severity of the damage.

Didn't B-Roy have minor meniscus surgery and return in like 8 days?

I know in the long run that didn't work out well at all but they can really vary in severity and he could be back as early as the Utah game

I tore my first meniscus in a track meet, the finished 2 more races... Then, 3 weeks later, I found out how unstable the knee really was. It's not worth risking serious injury by playing too soon on aninjury like this.

An arthroscopy would show exactly what damage has already been done (Assuming the decision for more invasive surgery has not already been made.) If it is a minor debridement, which involves simply removing a some debris, or smoothing a rough spot, the recovery can, indeed be short. It's hard to tell, since everyone heals differently, and we have no idea what the seriousness of the injury is.
