Chiefs players kills gf, self at Arrowhead

Roger Goodell issued a statement shortly thereafter reiterating that "no effects from concussions have been shown to have any short or long-term effects on players from any nfl-approved study"

I know I might be making light of a very tragic incident but it was literally the very first thought that went through my mind was that this player (presumably jovan belcher and olb) may have a TBI history that could have led to this.

It's a tragic issue for sure but why can we not speculate? Before JR Seau and Dave Duerson had killed themselves, they hd confided to others how they were having murderous thoughts an lo and behold, they both shot themselves. Apparently Belcher just had a kid too so it could be any number of things but I guess I'd rather learn that someone had a major brain injury and that is why they killed someone, not because they were just a messed up individual.

From what I've read so far he shot his gf at home in front of her mother, drove to Arrowhead where he was talking/arguing with Scott Pioli (GM) and Romeo Crennel (OC). The two of them said he had thanked them for what they had done for him before turning the gun on himself. I guess Belcher had just had a child too and again, presumably with his gf and not another woman.

ESPN said that it was his mother who was a witness. But then again, it is ESPN so it wouldn't surprise me if they are incorrect.

Edit: You're correct, it was her mother. Way to go ESPN.
