$50 mil per year for Pujols and Hamilton? Looks like an arms race is occurring in LA.

Re: Josh Hamilton
last year the angels added the best fa hitter and pitcher on the market and fell on their face, missing the playoffs. they couldn't possibly underachieve that massively again... right?

I like Hamilton and hope he does well but living in LA is probably the worst possible spot for him to land. Only thing worse would be if Vegas had a baseball team

You hope he falls back into a lifestyle that will probably lead to him killing himself? Classy comment, asshole.Biggus Duckus wrote:Never liked the guy, hope he relapses.

The galactic alignment of our local universe within the rest of the Milky Way is causing our brains to undergo a "rewiring" and there will be those who get realigned and those who turn into zombies.UOducksTK1 wrote:Fellas.......................................................... On a side note though Don Mattingly should shut up about the media creating high expectations. The media attention the Dodgers get is the entire reason they signed that TV contract and have the money to outspend the majority of teams in baseball.

Well now what for the mariners? Michael Bourn, Michael Morse, Nick Swisher. My red sox getting a few decent moves so far, I like them getting Ryan Dempster today as their pitching was horrible last year

Re: Josh Hamilton
I'd rather see them bring Morse back on a shorter deal then what they'd likely have to pay for Bourn or Swisher. At this point its getting harder to imagine they'll be able to keep Felix too, if they can't bring anyone else in.thomas time wrote:Well now what for the mariners? Re: Josh Hamilton
hmm? felix will re-sign. not much question regarding that. he'll re-up long before his deal is up at the end of 2014.
bourne would be irrelevant, we have fast, defensive-minded outfielders growing on trees here. plus, i never trust players on the wrong side of 30 whose game is built on speed. swisher would be fine, on the right deal. really, outside of a big trade, the mariners best chance at relevancy this season is massive internal improvement from all the young bats, and our elite arms down in the system perform as the scouts seem to think they will. a few of them will be called up this year.
at least we won't finish last. thanks, houston!

Re: Josh Hamilton
you could be right, i've long since learned to never have any expectations when it comes to this franchise. but the m's did finish only 6 games shy of .500 last year, which is respectable considering they played in the best division in baseball and went with a full-on youth movement. the offense was downright effective away from safeco, hopefully the new dimensions help. the arms coming up through the system will decide where this franchise ends up in the next few years...
