Brennan Clay gets Oklahoma offer

Post by maxduck »

"I was hyped to get the offer from Oklahoma," Clay said. "That's a big-time school and I'm definitely planning to take an official visit there in the fall. Right now, I know where four of my visits will be and I have one date set.

Rivals revised their Top 100 list and Clay moved up from the #112 overall prospect in the country to #41. He is also the #2 all-purpose back.

Keep in mind, Clay has said in previous articles that he would prefer to play on the West Coast. For example, a couple months ago he was asked about the distance issue as it relates to Michigan and this is what he had to say:
“I’ve been talking to my auntie and uncle about that (location) and it is going to be hard because I’m a Cali boy to get adjusted to that kind of weather. If I choose a school that is in the east, I have to get used to it, but I would love to star closer to west coast for family issues, so they can come to the games.”
According to the most recent update by Greg Biggins, Clay already knows where he wants to take 4 of his 5 official visits. Those visits will be to Michigan, Oregon, Georgia and Oklahoma. The Ducks are sitting pretty as the only West Coast school on that list. Also, the Oregon depth chart is about as appealing for a running back recruit as it can possibly get and Chip's offense is tailor-made for his game. Personally, I am not much worried about Clay straying far from the West Coast (even to Texas, another school he likes). If recruits give any sort of indication they would prefer to stay closer to home, they normally wind up staying close to home in the end. I would worry more about USC/Cal/Stanford making some progress with him. He plans on taking unofficial visits to Cal and Stanford in June.

Interesting how recruits rankings go up once certain schools start to recruit them...

I noticed that Scout now has his interest in Oregon listed as "medium" where before his interest in Oregon was "high."

What will pay off here is how early Oregon started recruiting CLay. As is the case with some of the other "gems" we scour early for. Sounds like we are doing the same in FL right now too.
