While I love the respect, don't blame the BCS, blame Oregon for not showing up against Stanford, just like in 2001.

I guess at least now i don't have to constantly hear "zomg Manti is the best defensive player EVVVEERRR! should have won the Heisman!" Give me a break.

So it's probably a good thing that I have no cable or satellite where I'm at and could care less about this game. Had a feeling this would happen since ND has been just good enough to finish undefeated, but could easily have been at just over .500 had several games not gone their way late.

Geez Christ, this is getting ridiculous. As long as Saban is there and we have these overly long breaks for BCS games, lets just give them the championship every year

I'd love for us to have a crack at 'Bama next year!

Our dominant win versus Kansas State was a page-turning kind of win for us. Other than some stubborn offensive playcalling in the first half, we dominated that game, and our guys were very comfortable in doing so. Unlike our other BCS bowls, there was never a moment when our guys didn't totally look like they belonged on that field.

This is Notre Dame's first big bowl game in a very long time, kind of like our underwhelming Rose Bowl against Ohio State, when we just weren't ready to be on that large of a stage.

Oregon is like Alabama in that BCS bowl games are the norm. We belong on this stage. That's just one of the reasons why if Oregon were in this game tonight, we'd be seeing something entirely different unfold. Not saying we'd be winning, but this game definitely wouldn't be a rout.

I'm glad for our game against KSU this year though, because it was good to see Chip overcome his stubbornness and find something else that worked. For him to turn that corner really helped us reach our potential in that game, and if he retains that mentality, then that will be a tremendous help the next time we find ourselves in a Stanford-like situation.

Ha, forgot there was a football game on right now.

Take away some dumb mistakes by Oregon too. If TMitch didn't have an unnecessary PI call on 3rd and 12 on KSU's first scoring drive, if Barner looked up on Mariota's beautiful pass which would've resulted in a touchdown, if Mariota didn't overthrow a wide open Huff in the endzone, if Mariota ran it on 4th and 4 for a first down. Oregon easily could've put up 50+ if they didn't make these mistakes.

There's your mistake...It's only a game if 2 teams show up.

This is a glorified scrimmage, 1's against the 3's.

Don't forget that on our trip to the National Championship game we only lost by 3 points with a sophomore QB. Pretty impressive rise by a bunch of kids from the State of OR Y GUN.

Not sure off top of my head but I think they were like 1-4 in bowl games this year.?

Stanford beat Oregon. Alabama is a better version of Stanford.

I don't hear a lot of people talking about this, but I really think that loss to Stanford had a lot to do with the terrible weather that day. Bad weather always favors the big, power-blocking team.

I don't know if Oregon would beat Alabama this year, but I do know this: Chip is going to be preparing his team for an SEC defense. The only mountain he has yet to conquer. I don't think there is any doubt that Oregon should have been in this game instead of Notre Lame. It would never happen though, without a playoff.
