Gunnar Kiel to Transfer from Notre Dame
Understandable since he is 4th on the depth chart with Golson as a RS Frosh last year starting. But damn man, make up your mind.

Wow, is he really 4th on the depth chart? Not surprising to see him go if so.Duck24 wrote:Understandable since he is 4th on the depth chart with Golson as a RS Frosh last year starting. But damn man, make up your mind.

Re: Gunnar Kiel to Transfer from Notre Dame
Chances are he would've been no lower than 3rd, likely 2nd. Golson was a good game manager but not overly impressive, so if Kiel performed extremely well in spring he may have even been considered to have a very slim chance to start.Duck24 wrote:Understandable since he is 4th on the depth chart with Golson as a RS Frosh last year starting. There were questions during his recruitment about him not wanting to compete for the starting spot, which is why many people think he originally picked Indiana, then decommited from LSU. He viewed ND as a very high profile school that would give him a good chance to start with little competition.

Drama....
Hopefully he gets it figured out where he wants to be soon. There's still time.

What school would take a chance on this headcase at this point? He could be the top rated dual threat QB and I wouldn't want the Ducks even looking in his direction now.UOducksTK1 wrote:Drama....

^ I was thinking the same thing. I would not want him to transfer here.

I think a less talented BCS team. Honestly, if he didn't commit to a school like Indiana at first, I think they would take him.duckduckgoose wrote:What school would take a chance on this headcase at this point? And since it sounds like he doesn't like competition, maybe a less talented football club would be better for him as well.

Don't think a kid who hasn't played a down would have passed Tommy Rees, who has started games as recently as this last season.squintsdd wrote:Chances are he would've been no lower than 3rd, likely 2nd. Think again. Rees wasn't very impressive either. Proven by the fact that he lost the starting spot to a kid that had also never played a down in college. Rees was a decent game manager also but he threw nearly as many interceptions as he did touchdowns. Kiel very well could've passed him on the depth chart if he really wanted to put forth the effort.Duck24 wrote:Don't think a kid who hasn't played a down would have passed Tommy Rees, who has started games as recently as this last season.squintsdd wrote:Chances are he would've been no lower than 3rd, likely 2nd. Re: Gunnar Kiel to Transfer from Notre Dame
Why is everyone ragging on this kid? Kids transfer all the time, I for one don't blame him. He wants to play and he isn't going to get that shot at ND. And no I don't care that he commited to 3 schools when coming out of HS.

I'm just going to assume you didn't see the ND games vs Michigan and Stanford when you call him a decent game manager. Stats don't accurately depict his impact on those games and the season overall. Whenever Golson struggled, they'd put Rees in and end up winning.squintsdd wrote:Think again. Rees wasn't very impressive either. Re: Gunnar Kiel to Transfer from Notre Dame
By that logic tell me this; if Rees was so good why wasn't he the year round starter? And if Golson was so good why did he struggle to the point that he would need to be replaced by the guy who didn't win the starting spot.Duck24 wrote:I'm just going to assume you didn't see the ND games vs Michigan and Stanford when you call him a decent game manager. Golson was a RS Freshman and played like it from time to time. Not every Frosh QB can play like Mariota and Manziel. ND was just lucky they had a competent backup. Back to the topic at hand though, I highly doubt Kiel would have supplanted Rees. The guy had started/played meaningful snaps in 3 consecutive years.squintsdd wrote:By that logic tell me this; if Rees was so good why wasn't he the year round starter? As for the Stanford game, how were they a shoe in to win the game? The score was 20-13 when Taylor was ruled down. If they say that Taylor scored then Stanford is kicking a PAT to play another OT.
