I'm rooting for Boise State. We have more recruiting battles with Washington and we'll already be ranked in the top 5 to start the season so we only need a couple teams to lose to move into position to play for a Championship. Should be a good game Chris Peterson is tough to beat when you give him a bunch of time to prepare for an opponent.

I think most of us get your point. In fact, I agree with you and do root for most PAC-12 teams to win their OOC games. However, UW is a different story altogether.Bud Lee wrote:I will never understand why you guys would root against your conference brethren when it comes to OOC games. You need the Huskies to win. I hate Alabama but I hope they slaughter VT, why, because it is good for the conference thus good for LSU in the long run.
Back in the day when the Huskies had a good team and, well, we did not, things were difficult. Perhaps if LSU fans had a similarpast, you would appreciate our hatred toward the Huskies and could understand why we cannot root for them - EVER, yes, even when they are playing the ridiculous Smurf outfitted team from Idaho, and even when it is in our best interest as far as SOS goes to do so. Our history with the Huskies is just too dreadful to forget and forgive. Watching their team clobber us year in and year out left indelible scars. I remember going to a game at Autzen one year and a third of the stadium was dressed in purple. Their fans were arrogant and rude. They wore their smug, better than everyone else, smiles on their faces with pride. But that wasn't the worst of it. As a matter of fact, I have heard tales of their fans chopping down entire tracts of forest land outside of Eugene the night before games and starting huge bon fires in the parking lot of Autzen on game day. When the fire was as high as the berms at Autzen, their fans would snatch babies from unsuspecting mothers and throw the children into the fire from atop the walls of Autzen. They would sacrifice virgin Oregon cheerleaders (yes, some of them were virgins back then) into the fire to appease their football gods and to ensure victory. Legend has it that they would even pee in their glasses of pinot noir and throw it on our players as they came into the stadium. This went on for years and years. And beng outnumbered and afraid after years of abuse it felt as if there was nothing we could do. It finally ended when a young man who ran track for Oregon and who had also been working on developing running shoes put an end to it all. With his new running shoes on, and given ample courage from his pint of Ninkasi, he ran to the berm of Autzen. He snatched a child who was about to be thrown into the fire below out of the hands of one of the offenders and said, "Enough!" Grabbing a glass of pee filled pinot noir, he threw it in the face of their leader and ran south, creating a path toward the Willamette River. Of course, the fools, all clad in their purple outfits, ran enmasse after him carrying shards of broken wine glass in their hands. Knowing the river would be too dangerous to cross and yet not wanting to die at their hands, he began to cross. As he started across, the sun blazed in lightning yellow above him. A path of rocks across the river became evident to him, as if glowing a florescent green, and he saw his way across. Seeing that he had crossed safely and while still in a state of madness, the Husky fools began to cross after him. Just at that time, over the entire valley, except for a small patch above Autzen, the skies grew dark and ominous. The sky opened up and rain poured down harder than it has ever poured before. The Huskies lost their footing, were swept away in the deluge and were no more.
This, my LSU fan, is why we cannot root for the Huskies. Though cowardly and weak now, they still allow the evil one to reside in them in hopes that they will become strong again.

You know what…you’re right…Huck the Fuskies! Most older LSU fans can relate by the way, we went through some very dark days and as a result there are a few that would pay to see Bama lose every week. In addition there is a Huskie fan here, he sucks.

liberalduck is humorous, but there really is a deep antipathy for a lot of us toward the Huskies. Incredible for me to remind myself sometimes that I STRONGLY rooted for the Huskies back in their Warren Moon days when they began emerging as a power and they went to the Rose Bowl, particularly after the 1977 season. At that time, they represented for me a team from the lowly Pac. NW in the Pac-8/10 who could compete nationally rather than just the L.A. teams. But those nice feelings ended pretty quickly, probably by 1980.

I also think that if there's one team's coach who can keep his team focused in the atmosphere they're going into -- with undoubtedly a pretty big and raucous crowd in the Huskies' (by all accounts) beautifully refurbished stadium -- it's Boise State with Petersen.

I actually did the same thing-but rarely admit it now.Greenblood wrote:liberalduck is humorous, but there really is a deep antipathy for a lot of us toward the Huskies. As a Christian I often ask myself WWJD. Instead we should ask WWHFD, what would husky fan do? How do you think husky fans reacted in 2009 when we laid an egg on the smurf turf? They laughed and laughed and relished our stinker of a game. Well I say we do unto others as they do unto us and we NEVER root for UW

I see that Seferian-Jenkins is out (suspended) for this game. Even though I'm rooting for BSU, I really don't like anything that gives an opposing team an "excuse" if they lose, or even might inspire them to play better.
I think the Huskies still should be favored. Current line has them by 4.

The '94 game will live in my heart for the rest of my life... The thousands of Fuskies in Autzen Stadium that day deflated faster than a leaky balloon as Kenny Wheaton raced for the end zone.
I stood on the wall in front of the north concession stands, and let out a Tarzan yell of joy!

I'm a little embarrassed to admit that while that was going on, I was watching the Beavers get beaten by Bill Walsh's Stanford Cardinal. When they announced what had happened with Wheaton's touchdown, the whole place erupted with cheers. Those were different days.woundedknees wrote:The '94 game will live in my heart for the rest of my life... Boise is getting killed.
