He also had an excellent senior season. He didn't do much before that, but remember that Dixon also didn't excel until his final year. I know we all dislike USC, but come on guys!!!!!

Mark Sanchez is a redshirt junior. I think it would've been in his best interest to come back to college one more year and be a top 10 pick, but that still might happen.duckgrad99 wrote:He also had an excellent senior season. BTW, I'm pretty sure this topic doesn't go here.

Mitch Mustain is his backup...a very good QB who was a 5* coming out of high school and already has a season starting on the college level (at Arkansas)

Well, we've beaten him once in our home. He's probably afraid we'll do it in 2009 REALLY BIG TIME '>

That's fine because Corp had moved ahead of MM midway thought the season, so we'll see if MM can beat him out this spring.

Re: Mark Sanchez... to the pros
I hate SC as much as the next Duck fan, but dang, this guy torched us this year and never won a NC, and probably would have had a shot to do so next year. I'm surprised, but on the flip side he does project well as an NFL QB, so I'm not shocked either.
It really makes me wonder if he questions the talent there for next year or thinks the coaching changes may affect the team- dunno. Well bring in the next 5 star.
Tell him to stay away from Boyd. and brown too for that matter.

Saw this on sports center last night at work. I was pretty excited. Just means we have that much more of a shot at beating them next year.

Looks like Mitch Mustain is going to start, and judging by his transfer he is a complete idiot

Re: Mark Sanchez... to the pros
I think Mustain was 8-0 in his tenure as the starter at Arkansas..
As far as Sanchez and how he projects as a pro.. He led the Pac-10 in efficiency, yards, td's, td:int ratio, completion %..
He has the size, the arm, and the moxy of a potential franchise QB.
He is definitely a first-round guy this year.

Re: Mark Sanchez... to the pros
I talked to Spencer Paysinger a while back about the all pac 10 team.. I asked him if sanchez was really the best qb he faced all year, He said by far. I am not a fan of his by any means but players who have faced him know that he is the real deal and gets the job done, even though it may not be the most flashy way to do it.

I don't really think all that much of Mustain. I'll bet Aaron Corp ends up the starting QB when all is said and done.

Re: Mark Sanchez... to the pros
After reading all the comments, I checked out his accomplishments from this last year and he is better that I thought. He can throw the long ball on a rope. I thought most of what he did against Oregon was due to improper alignment of the defense but maybe there is some skill there. He MIGHT be a good NFL propesct. That is all the credit I can give a Trojan. He will definitely be better than Leinart, but that is an easy statement to make.

Re: Mark Sanchez... to the pros
I don't see how all of you guys can diss the guy, he was the best qb in the pac this year and will be the a top 2 qb pick in the draft depending on how he competes with stafford in the combine. this was his first full year as a starter and he has the size and arm strength to make all the throws at the pro level. He will be a top ten pick and with the new rookie contracts being changed after this next season i believe it was a wise decision to take all the cash he can collect (unless that lions pick him number one because that might not be worth all the money in the world). mustain or corp will battle it out for the starting position next year so this might be just what we need to sneak past SC for a rose bowl next year.
