I guess I have mixed feelings. Wearing my selfish hat, I'm glad he went so low because I want him to play football and baseball for us. For him, it might be more of a silver lining: lose big signing bonus but gain opportunity to play college ball in two sports and get a free education, with a better shot at bigger money later.

I'm sure that's exactly what Kelly & Horton are telling himDestroyer77 wrote:I guess I have mixed feelings. Only downside I have seen for the Ducks from the MLB draft was P Tyler Matzek(spelling correct?) being selected in the 1st rd. Not a big suprise though.

"Huard's gonna go back to throw the ball. Sets up, looks, throws towards the corner of the endzone. It is... INTERCEPTED! INTERCEPTED! THE DUCKS HAVE THE BALL! Down to the 35! The 40! KENNY WHEATON'S GONNA SCORE!!! KENNY WHEATON'S GONNA SCORE!!! 20! THE 10! TOUCHDOWN!!! KENNY WHEATON, AN INTERCEPTION!!! THE MOST IMPROBABLE FINISH TO A FOOTBALL GAME!!!"

After reading what dudefromor posted showing signing bonus' it all depends on the players agent and how bad a team really wants you to sign. Some players got SB worth way more than their draft position would indicate.

He wants a record-setting contract and wouldn't like to play at Coors Field.OregonMAX wrote:Why wouldn't he?Phenom wrote:He might not sign.oregonpride wrote:Only downside I have seen for the Ducks from the MLB draft was P Tyler Matzek(spelling correct?) being selected in the 1st rd. Shouldn't we know by now if Braxton is coming or not? Is there a deadline?

Texas or any team drafting a player with a football option has got to know they have to come in strong to overcome their FB scholarship leverage or you've wasted a pick. Unless they are idiots I expect the Rangers to make a premium offer above normal 7th round money.
If Braxton turns it down, I think he will be treated by our coaching staff like a JC player than a high school player. You figure you have 3 years with him max instead of 5 years. Therefore, I doubt they would redshirt him. I think there is a real spot on our team for a smaller quick receiver now that Phlu and Scott are gone. If Braxton stays I would wager he'll be one of the first receivers of this years recruits class to see the field.
