Anthony Gonzalez
Now that most of our QB recruits are no longer available, what's the latest on Anthony Gonzalez? Has he set up a visit? Do we have a legitimate chance with him?

Re: Anthony Gonzalez
Well, Illinois picked up a ESPN 150 qb already as has Penn State (previous competition) So I would think it would be between us, Pitt, and FSU. We are the perfect fit stylewise. But Pitt is close to home....etc. East coast pull on FSU.fecta23 wrote:he came out with a top 5 today and we are on it according to rivals. Its Pitt, Mizzou, Illinois , FSU and us.
I hope the kid can see what he could be in our system.

FSU still has EJ Manuel (stud) waiting in the wings. Not sure what Pitt's situation at QB looks like.

Re: Anthony Gonzalez
I don't think we have a very good shot with him but I would love to be wrong.

Seeing that SunBowl could be counter productive to Oregon... It surely highlight's the need for offensive leadership at both participants...

Bennett is probably the best QB we will get in this class. People are really overlooking him but from what I've heard he's the real deal. He just plays in one of the toughest conferences anywhere and was trying to do too much this last year.newduckfan wrote:Where do you think Bennett fits in?
I expect to see him put up big numbers this year, get his 4th star and come to Oregon as the future star of our offense. He will almost certainly redshirt and then compete for the starting job in 2011.

Darron Thomas should be able to nail down the starting position, but who knows?
I'm still flabbergasted that Mustain and Corp wound up at USC, as bench warmers last year...

Re: Anthony Gonzalez
Only knock on DT is can he learn how to execute at game speed? He's got all the tools for this offense, big, fast, strong arm. But he looks a lot like Dixon did his So.-Jr. year right now, indecisive and slow to read plays. Needless to say, his Spring game looked like crap, he couldn't move that offense. I have faith CK will get him up to speed though. He did with DD. Masoli, looks fantastic, he's going to rock the stats this year.
