95 Point Guards

Steve Nash

Despite attending the small Bay Area College of Santa Clara, Nash was one of the best player on the West Coast. He may have come out his Junior year and, while he looked great againt his college competition, he was only decent in the combine workouts. His midrange show was as good as advertized but scouts where surprised how often his usually dependable 3pt shot was. You would be hard pressed to find a better passing guard coming out of college and he rarely encountered turnover issues. Pressing up too high one him was dangerous as he possessed a solid array of finishing moves. Very good defending the perimeter and stealing the ball, but he does struggle getting over screens as his lateral quickness is not amazing. Scouts have been drooling over this one for some time and are in agreement that no one in this class has more potential.

Damon Stoudamire

Portland local who decided to head down to the desert and become a Wildcat. His senior season probably didn't end like Damon might have hoped after a round one boot by the Redhawks of Miami of Ohio in the 5-12 game. He was good from both outside and in this year, and while not even close to the shooter that Berry at Oregon State was, he was a much more complete offensive threat. Given that he both had the ball in his hands (which did lend to his fair share of TOs) and he had the quickness to beat most everyone he met, Damon easily earned his CPOY (with Ed O'Bannon finishing a distant 2nd). Solid potential and if he puts it all together could be a real weapon from the PG position.

Travis Best

Solid point man for Georgia Tech this season. He led the Yellow-Jackets to a respectable 18 wins and a decent run in the NIT. He has a very mature outside game and rarely failed to connect on the big shot.

Kevin Ollie

Solid prospect out of UConn. Love to play above the rim and rarely had turnover issues. Very good outside and decent perimeter defender. Great upside. He plays the game the right way and scouts love his maturity.

Eric Snow

Very quick defender out of Michigan State. He has a very mature close out on shots and a decent 3pt shot. His shot is a little flat and while it works well from 3pt range, it isn't particularally effective from mid range. Very good upside.

Other PG prospects:

Ibrahim Kutulay:

Tall, lanky defender out of Turkey. Very mature handling and good rebounding from the PG position. Strong and tall.

Cory Alexander:

Pesky defender and really good outside shot. Solid, but unspectacular upside.

Tyus Edney

Really good outside shot, unspectacular upside.

Shawn Respert

Great upside and deep threat potential. Not a good passer.
