My namesake has passed
I don't know if I ever explained my screen name Bud Lee. I took the name after the best dog I've ever had the privilege to call mine.
7 years ago when I was out for a run, the large brown dog followed me home. He simply refused to leave me and would lay on my front porch waiting for me to come out. He simply wore me down and I took him in. The funny thing is he found me at a real low point in mylife when I really needed a friend. My first marriage was falling apart and the stress from law school was beginning to get to me. Bud Lee stuck by me through thick and thin. It is odd to say but it is the truth that for the past 7 years he has been my best friend.
He has been battling heart issues for the past year and today we had no choice but to put him down as his kidneys were beginning to fail him. I'm going to miss him terribly.

Thanks, I know to a lot of people it seems silly to mourn a dog but to me he was a good friend

Dogs make the very best friends. They love us regardless of how flawed we are.Bud Lee wrote:Thanks, I know to a lot of people it seems silly to mourn a dog but to me he was a good friend

I feel your pain. I just lost my lab, Layla, a couple months ago. Still walk in the house expecting to see her. It sucks.

So sorry to hear about your losses. Bud & Encinatas.
Our pets are family and they bring so much joy to our lives. They give us unconditional love in a world that can be tough to take and I have considered myself truly fortunate to have had some amazing pets.

Wanna know who really loves you? Lock your wife and your dog in the trunk for an hour and see which one is happy to see you when you let them out.

But, in all seriousness, I am very sorry to hear of your loss Bud. Losing a pet is one of the most difficult times in one's life and, yes, you should mourn his passing. I remember all of my pets, dogs, cats, snakes, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice... with great fondness.
