2005 PFs

Very weak class on paper, but I see a player or two surging out of this class.

Sean May PF 6'9'' 266 21 B- C- D B- B- B: May is as advertised. He was a dominant player in college, and should hit the ground running in DASL. His potential is limited, but even with average growth May could still be an all around player that could help a team competing. There aren't any good defenders in this class, so to add that to an already solid scoring/rebounding game is hard to come by this year.

Jason Maxiell PF 6'7'' 260 22 B D F+ C+ B C: Maxiell, like May, pushed over the majority of the competition in college. No one in this draft compares to Maxiell on the boards though. Despite being undersized, Maxiell's unreal combination of strength and jumping make him an attractive prospect.

Ike Diogu PF 6'8'' 250 22 B D+ D- C C B: There's no wow in Diogu's game. He's very methodical in the way he operates. He's a little oversized and slow, but uses his frame as a huge advantage on offense. There isn't a player in this draft, or perhaps in the league, that could slow down Ike inside. The rest of his game may never develop to the point most GMs would like, but he's automatic inside.

Charlie Villanueva PF 6'11'' 240 21 C+ C+ C- C C+ A:
CV might be the best looking prospect in this class, which isn't saying a ton. His versatility is something no one else has in this class. He handles the ball well and can score from anywhere on the court. Defense and overall consistency is a concern. But most scouts are banking on his upside to help overcome any of his weaknesses.

Brandon Bass PF 6'8'' 240 20 B- D+ F+ C+ C+ B: This is a class severely lacking defense. While Bass isn't the most polished defender, he has all the tools you like to see. While slightly undersized, it's not something that will be exploited thanks to decent physicality and a very well-balanced game. Bass has been docked by scouts for his inability to work with teammates and can play selfishly.

Andray Blatche PF 6'11'' 235 19 B- C+ D- C C A: A well baked offensive game at the age of 19 is very hard to come by, especially in Centers. That alone makes Blatche a hot commodity in this draft. Blatche though is a complete toss up. After a few TCs, we'll know whether he will be putting up 22ppg or will be keeping benches warm.
