GOLF: Oregon's Aaron Wise - National NCAA Champion
The kid is 19 years old & is so amazing. Going pro in a few weeks, but it sure has been nice to have him at Oregon.
Huge crowd at Eugene CC today just to watch him. Excellent!
He had two double bogeys today & thought for sure he'd let the championship slip through his fingers, but the course kicked everybody's a$$ today. Golf is the hardest damn game!
The Oregon Golf team is still in the hunt & they have match play tomorrow.

Oregon came into the tournament ranked 20th overall so to be in the championship round is amazing. They're playing some of their best golf of the year, which should come as no surprise since Eugene CC is their home course. Looking like they'll be playing Texas tomorrow.

Any idea what Texas was ranked before the tournament? Also, how does one either watch the round or at least get updates to it?greenyellow wrote:Oregon came into the tournament ranked 20th overall so to be in the championship round is amazing. From what I could find, they were the #2 ranked team coming in, but had been #1 at times this season. I believe the tournament is being carried on the Golf Channel. As for official websites, I'd go with the NCAA's (although it's not updated as quickly as it could be.) Some Twitter accounts to follow are The Golf Channel (https://twitter.com/GolfChannel), Oregon Golf (https://twitter.com/OregonMGolf), and Rob Moseley (https://twitter.com/GoDucksMoseley.) You can also search the #NCAAGolf hashtag on Twitter to find others talking about it.RanDux wrote:Any idea what Texas was ranked before the tournament? Texas also appears to have lost one of their guys to injury today, so they won't be at full strength.

Thanks, greenyellow. Those links were helpful. Go Ducks!greenyellow wrote:From what I could find, they were the #2 ranked team coming in, but had been #1 at times this season. The player that is injured, Hossler, is their top player and the #3 player in the NCAA. If he can't go they forfeit his match and have to win 3 out of 4 other matches. Definitely a big setback for them.Tray Dub wrote:Texas also appears to have lost one of their guys to injury today, so they won't be at full strength.

It was just announced that he won't be playing today. Oregon starts up 1-0 before the first shot is even hit.RanDux wrote:The player that is injured, Hossler, is their top player and the #3 player in the NCAA. Home course advantage in full effect for Oregon today as a bunch of fans, the Duck, and cheerleaders are all at ECC.

I read online that there's no home course advantage. You have to go back to the 70's or 80's to find a team winning on their home course. Hopefully the ducks change that today!greenyellow wrote:Home course advantage in full effect for Oregon today as a bunch of fans, the Duck, and cheerleaders are all at ECC.

With Oregon 2 down in the other remaining match, the championship is going to be determined on the 18th as Sulman Raza tied it on the 17th with a clutch putt.

They halve the 18th and now they need a playoff hole to determine the winner.

Raza misses a 5-ft putt to win it just right and it's another hole.
