With fewer players, it's easier to post a higher average. One 5 star - all by himself - makes a heckuvan average. They got three. That means the rest of the group could be low 3's and they'd still have a decent average. They got several 4's and that keeps the average up, too.

I like what we got. I'm not nearly as worried about our TEs as some on here seem to be. Taggart didn't use his TE that much at USF (and used an H-back set much of the time) so we should be fine with 3 1/2 good TEs (adding in Mattingly as good and the walkon Bay as 1/2 because I'm not sure how he's going to fit this scheme.

If we can get Wilson from Churchill as a TE project, I think we're in excellent shape. He's a hidden gem that could turn out to be incredibly good.

The next recruiting class should be very interesting to see.
This is how I feel. Artis/Falo are the two I wish we could have pulled in that we had a really solid chance at, but to even be in the convo for Artis that late in the game is credit to our staff.
This +1.
We were clearly close with Falo but I imagine Reaves DUII didn't help us much there. I'm not as worried about the edge rusher on this. I think Moi, Hollins, etc. will easily fill that gap and didn't think a frosh would be a huge difference maker in 2017. This will likely hurt us in 2018 but let's hope that changes.
TE depth is a major concern. We have 2 legit TE's, we'll be converting Mattingly and will likely have to move someone else to TE for shear depth. However, if WT doesn't play double tights much than this isn't really as big of an issue.
I mostly agree.

Good class, but missing at TE isn't really acceptable. There were plenty of guys, including Moses Robinson who was committed.

Falo should have been the second TE, not the only option.

If they get a TE, even a low three star, I give the class an A-

Without TE, an essential need, I think we drop to B-

It's a fundamental issue.

Not worried about Artis, Falaniko or Thompson FWIW

Mark my words, Falo is going to tear up the league in a couple years.
Eh. I think he only ran a 5.0 at 215 lbs. I would have loved him but I think the FL TE we lost was better.

[/sour grapes]
BINGO. McKitty is the real deal and serious loss. I didn't think Falo would start over Breeland or McCormick who I think are both better IMO. If McCormick can stay healthy, I think he's a serious game changer. He's much quicker/faster than Falo. McCormick can also block well and scamper. The issue this year is simply depth. Let's pray no one gets seriously injured or that Mattingly steps in seamlessly. In fairness, I think Mattingly will surprise a lot of us.

I've heard a lot of people bragging up McCormick. Seemed he made a bit of noise in Fall ball too, if I remember right.

He's the real deal! Legit speed, size and great hands. Great after the catch but a complete TE. From what I saw of Falo, he's more of split TE so not sure how elite his run blocking is..Cam's complete, just needs seasoning and to keep out of the hospital.

On his profile, it says he's 6'4" and 220 lbs.

Supposedly he's super athletic and is a good basketball player. Raw with lots of potential.

I guess the concern would be that you offer a 4 year scholly to a kid that turns out to be Cody Carriger. He looks the part but might not develop into a Pac12 type kid.

That's awesome! Well make sure when you run into Joe to get in his ear about recruits lol jk. I would love to see him stay several years though. More excited about these hires than I was about chip staying his last year here.

Yeah, you would think if Taggart didn't want to use a scholarship on M R-Carr he probably wouldn't use it on a project kid. MRC was better on film than that.

The problem is that Stanford still got three 5 stars to Oregon's zero. I think they'd still have a higher average even if they took exclusively 3 stars to make up the class size difference between them and Oregon.
