Martinez or DTR
With both Butch Jones and Mora most likely getting fired at the end of the season, their current QB commits are shaky at best. And we have offered and recruited both. Of the two Dorian Thompson-Robinson or Martinez which would you prefer?
A second QB for this class might be a good idea.
I sent request to the coaches to check out this QB a few weeks ago Jack Plummer who just recently committed to Purdue. He is also from Arizona like Shough. But he is having an amazing senior season. I think if we recruit and pursue him we get him. He is extremely under the radar but is big strong and tough, quick compact throwing motion, and accurate. Hopefully hopefully Arroyo checks in on him.

I am almost 90% sure that Jim Mora is not getting fired. His buyout is much too large, unless boosters offer to pay it he’s staying where he is.

Is that Jake Plummer's kid?

Not sure why you posted Martinez and DTR to talk about Plummer. But hey, Plummer looks like a real nice qb. Somebody is going to get a player.

Well if Mora can't win with Chosen Rosen or the best QB to be at UCLA since Mcknown or a dual threat like Hundley he is not going to win with anyone. He doesn't win big games, something Todd Graham at least can say he did this year.CanadianQuackers wrote:I am almost 90% sure that Jim Mora is not getting fired. Boosters are going to see this. He has had more than enough time..... what is his buyout? Lots of wealthy alum at UCLA. With the amount of money spent on upgrades at UCLA I'm sure they are expecting better. But UCLA is a basketball school so maybe they are content with the stagnant trajectory.

Martinez or DTR
Well my post was about Martinez and DTR who are QBs naturally people are going talk about other ones, so hopefully you are just confused or wanting to call out someone who you think may be showing off? Which I can't really see how I am. Let's just talk about QBs and yes he does look really good and he is heading to a bottom tier team in the East. So yeah I really am interested in who people would prefer. I am leaning Martinez. Good speed, more accurate passing, but character and decision making are things you can't tell from a highlight tape. Which would be my unknown.ifuwant2 wrote:Not sure why you posted Martinez and DTR to talk about Plummer. But hey, Plummer looks like a real nice qb. Somebody is going to get a player.
If we are looking for a 2nd QB this class, which I think we should, Plummer would be perfect because there is no huge hoopla with him or any drama that most of the time comes with high rated QBs, he's under the radar and he is seriously skilled, had awesome toughness and size.

You aren't very familiar with the AD, Chianti Dan are you? That he still is the AD let's you know how those wealthy alum's feel about the program. In fact I'm pretty sure he's the longest tenured AD by a wide margin.Diehardduckfan wrote:Well if Mora can't win with Chosen Rosen or the best QB to be at UCLA since Mcknown or a dual threat like Hundley he is not going to win with anyone. Yeah I have read about him every time UCLA is looking for a coach in basketball or football he's definitely not a good one. He is definitely not the longest tenured AD in the NCAA or Pac-12 so you must mean at UCLA. didn't think about him much, but that hasn't stopped other programs from making bold moves despite long tenured, powerful or stubborn ADs. Change eventually happens..... butch jones seems to be on the way out done and Mora won't have any good excuses after this seasonDuck07 wrote:You aren't very familiar with the AD, Chianti Dan are you? Actually Jim Mora's buyout is middle of the pack in terms of coaches buy out at about 11.92 million very similar to Helfriches.CanadianQuackers wrote:I am almost 90% sure that Jim Mora is not getting fired. His buyout is much too large, unless boosters offer to pay it he’s staying where he is.

He has the 21st most expensive buyout, out of all FBS coaches. It sits at 12,275 million. Only Petersen and MacIntyre have hhigher buyouts in the PAC12. Mark Helfrich’s contract was 11.6 million but he also was paid ludicrous money that he never should have had. UCLA could buy him out but even UCLA fans say Mora isn’t going anywhere yet.

That report was wrong they forgot the 2016 80% clause added in renegotiation.CanadianQuackers wrote:Diehardduckfan wrote:Actually Jim Mora's buyout is middle of the pack in terms of coaches buy out at about 11.92 million very similar to Helfriches.CanadianQuackers wrote:I am almost 90% sure that Jim Mora is not getting fired. Re: Martinez or DTR
The issue I’ve read is that two coaches at UCLA are on the hot seat, one is in either m/w BB and the other is FB, they can only do one buyout and they want to see what happens in BB. They are a BB School first so I’ve heard.

Re: Martinez or DTR
I think people see no real reason to suspect either one of them would end up a Duck. Still a long ways to go until signing day, but word has been that the staff really isn't high on DTR. Martinez was never really linked to the Ducks even when he was uncommitted. Most people think if he leaves TN he'll end up at USC, who doesn't have a qb in this class.Diehardduckfan wrote:So no one has a preference of Martinez or DTR?

As to which one would I prefer? Hard to say. I think Martinez has been hurt his senior year, so it's hard to say how much he's progressed since his junior year. DTR has had some bad games in his first year starting. He's also had some good games of late. Judging solely on a few minutes of highlights, I'd probably go Martinez. HIs junior highlight film was pretty tight.
