Final Predictions

Post by jimmy12 »

Here is mine based on all the noise on the internet (likely not all true):

Devon Williams
Talanoa Hufanga
Penei Sewell
Jalen Hall
Kalon Gervin: https://247sports.com/Player/Kalon-Gervin-78347

plus 1 defensive player either

Michael Thompson or https://247sports.com/Player/Michael-Thompson-83923
JJ Peterson: https://247sports.com/Player/JJ-Peterson-88704

Cota to UCLA

I'd hate to miss out on Cota, and I bet the coaches feel the same. Also I'm still not confident on Sewell.

I think Waddle is a bigger miss than Cota personally.

Do you guys think Taggart open up to take in JC qb or 5th-year transfer?

Nope, for starters I don’t think a transfer would want to come here, typically transfers want playing time or grad school opportunities and quite frankly we have neither to offer. After that comes our current depth chart which likely projects as:

1. Herbert
2. Shough
3. Burch
4. Burmeister

Taggart said after the Arizona week that had he known Burch was so good at running an offence that he would have likely played him in Herbert’s absence.

Not a chance Shough is the backup day 1.

Official depth charts typically aren’t released until a week or so prior to the first game. I don’t think he’ll be behind Burmeister by that point, Burch will depend on how he’s progressed and if he stays at the position long-term.

On what are you basing your opinion that Burmeister is worse than Shough?

High School film?

The simplicity of that response is cracking me up.

I'm not ready to say that BB is going to be a career backup just yet. I do think that it's a possibility though. He has a lot of work to do. Hopefully he will have a better understanding of the game after film study and work in the spring. His athleticism would create a lot of problems for defenses.

That being said, I do hope that Shough will be better next year than Burmeister was this year.

At this point, the only disappointing part is losing the recruits. Not Willie. (which begs the question, how is this different than what Kiffin did to Tennessee?)

It's really not all that different. Sounds like it got real ugly during and after his meeting. Here's a story from 2010 that detailed what happened:
