Re: Signing Day Thread (Wednesday Feb 7)
Looking at all the kids signing with other schools that I know we had a chance with. I spoke with a few who wanted Duck edits/drawings and the staff fell off on recruiting them. Some wound up with significantly inferior programs we could have out recruited. Starting to get reminders of Helf era, where guys like Jared Mayden complained to me that the Oregon staff wasn't staying in touch with them like other schools.
I hope it's just my panicking and they chose to pass on those recruits, but it was the biggest failing I saw from Helf's staff. I think this staff is MUCH more energetic, but seeing the lack of back-up options is troubling considering how many scholarships we have.

FSU is quickly rising to the top of my most disliked team. I don't blame Slick Willie for going to FSU. That's his dream job. The way he left and continues to act is completely classless. As someone mentioned, he was most likely responsible for the garbage skit.Duck24 wrote:Getting trolled...double kick in the junk.

It was a 2 month recruitment year for MC and company. Obviously WT had a big influence on at least half the recruits. Let's wait for a full recruiting cycle and judge the coaches next year.GoDucksTroll wrote:Looking at all the kids signing with other schools that I know we had a chance with. And I think MC did pretty well with the recruits he had the biggest influence recruiting, OL. From the decommitments and lost recruits, we can see Slick was probably the lead recruiter for many of the skills players and obviously the FL boys. So we can't put that on MC. Sadly, recruits mostly commit to coaches these days, rather than schools.UOducksTK1 wrote:It was a 2 month recruitment year for MC and company. Sounds like we'll know soon if JJ Tucker has an offer. Just an awful finish to the class as it seems the coaches got supremely confident in a small group and now they may only get 1 guy from it.

tk1 is spot on...2019 class will be a good test. I also like the players that have already signed
and happy they are ducks.

Yep. The failure isn't missing on all the top targets, the failure is not having suitable backup plans and reaching for guys that probably don't belong on a D1 football teamgreenyellow wrote:Sounds like we'll know soon if JJ Tucker has an offer. Of course I'm waiting on next year, and I'm happy with out class. Solid top to bottom, instead of a couple of top-100 kids and a bunch of three stars.UOducksTK1 wrote:It was a 2 month recruitment year for MC and company. The 2019 cycle will be crucial. Not a lot of momentum, so we'll what this staff is made of.

So it should be rumors, not reports.Phalanx wrote:Griffin to SC. Reports that Devon WIlliams has already sent in his LOI, but can't find confirmation.

With journalism nowadays, those are interchangeable.damascusduck wrote:So it should be rumors, not reports.Phalanx wrote:Griffin to SC. Reports that Devon WIlliams has already sent in his LOI, but can't find confirmation.
