Are the Huskies getting nervous?

If you had missed it Friday night, Washington defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake and defensive back coach Will Harris each sent out tweets referencing how few scholarships the Huskies have extended. It was a chance for them to say the 80 or so recruits they've offered are really special. While it also could be interpreted as a shot at Oregon for a "spray-and-pray" offer strategy.
Sunday afternoon Oregon's response to the Huskies little jab at Oregon's recruiting process was finally seen. But the response wasn't from any one coach at Oregon. Instead, it came from prospects Oregon and Washington were recruiting. Oregon's response gets even more impressive. Oregon's eight four-star verbal commitments are only three less than the rest of the conference combined. That alone speaks volumes for how well the Oregon coaches are performing during the 2019 recruiting class.

Exactly what i was thinking when i read that article Friday night. Where we're ranked and the players we're getting is response enough.

They'll get nervous when we actually show signs of life against them on the football field, which we haven't done the last 2 seasons.

As for the recruiting approaches, clearly some sour grapes from them on Friday. I do have some questions about our shotgun approach to recruiting, specifically, how well we know these kids before giving them an offer, both in terms of talent evaluation and in terms of off the field issues. There's something to be said for proper vetting and relationships.

That said, when you're Oregon, more of a national brand than Washington, spray and pray is a lot more effective.

This. They had more talent and better coaching the last two seasons. It's cool we are recruiting well and adding more talent, but we'll see how we do on the field.

Means very little until the athlete signs on the dotted line or is enrolled in school.

I am cautiously excited. I was really excited last year until the exodus because of the Tagert fiasco. I have seen the last few years Oregon has a hard time closing. Oregon needs to show they can close and need to compete on the field with them before buy that they getting nervous

They've beaten us by like 100 combined points the last two years, we should probably curb our off season excitement a bit; lest we sound like said Huskies.

Petersen has proven he doesn't need top 15 classes to dominate on the field and I sadly think they will be a force to be reckoned with until he's gone.

He's only proven he can win with Sarks recruits, let's see if it continues without those guys Sark was willing to let in that Helf thought had bad work ethic or attitudes like Vea, who wanted a UO offer badly and Ross who also wanted a UO offer but we waited to long. To me it looks like UO is now taking questionable highly ranked guys, that Helf wasnt willing to take but Sark did take. It's like Peterson is returning the favor to UO and allowing us to rebuild quickly

Oregon still has to close and not lose the recruits going down the stretch. Oregon been notorious bad closing the last 4 or 5 years.

To be able to close well and flip top recruits during the end of signing periods, Oregon has to first start to win again and build an identity on the field. Few kids today are loyal to their home states regardless of team records, want to follow family legacies, or commit to a coach that first believed in them before all the hype and attention of other schools. Most kids today just want to play for winning programs and Nattys.
