4* LB Maninoa Tufono visiting this weekend

Post by greenyellow »

Oregon is getting a big visitor this weekend in 4* HI LB Maninoa Tufono. He's good friends with Mase Funa and Salave'a has a great relationship with him.

It will be interesting to compare his reactions between the UW visit and the Oregon visit.

Would love to get Tufono. Oregon has long been one of his favorites.

Looks like Wiltfong and Bud Elliot put a CB for UW yesterday and today.

Ducks didn't make his top 5. With Oregon's history in Hawaii, it sucks to see them continually miss out on their top recruits and not even be competitive for most of them. Worse is that most have UW and USC, instead of Oregon, in their top fives/tens.

As someone who grew up without means, it amazes me that a whole family would pay to fly out to Oregon when it's not even in their top 5.

He also visited UW that same weekend so it wasn't a wasteful trip for his family.

Families can’t accept payment, but I wonder how many accept “loans” with high interest rates. Not saying that is the case here, but it would explain how some families without means are able to travel so much.

It’s much more likely they’re receiving illicit payments from the schools they’re visiting.

Damn, that is really surprising that we didn't make his top-5. He reached out for an Oregon graphic over a year ago and as I understood it Oregon was Tufono's childhood favorite.

As for visits, I believe his was unofficial but schools can now pay for an official visit earlier then they used to. It was part of the rule change with the early signing period, and Oregon was one of the school's lobbying for that. Official visits can now start from April 1 of the recruits junior year, instead of the previous rule that was start of senior year.

It sucks missing out on all these kids who had Oregon as their dream school growing up. But the fact of the matter is that their dream school's staff is not here any more and the style of play of their dream school is different now than from what it was before. I don't see many of these recruits, who had us as their dream school growing up, signing with us until we start to see this new staff instill a new identity resulting in winning on the field.

Kids say Oregon is dream school all the time... or I love everything there. They are just lies or kids wanting attention most the time. When I see kids say that and then sign with Oregon will believe it. Learned along time ago with the kids that talk is cheap. Their actions usually very rarely equate to signing with Oregon.

Really, we only want the kids that want to be here for the right reasons. Not the prima donnas who just want social media attention.
