Kinda odd that Petersen said Kaho wants to be closer to home but rumors are swirling that he's headed to Bama. Bama would be even further away than UW from Reno.

Re: UW loses 5* LB Kaho, may be looking at Oregon
I'm surprised that he is such a hot commodity, if the reports of him losing 20 pounds, depressed, etc. are true. I actually agree with Husky fans: it doesn't seem quite right to be begging to get out of his LOI for 'family reasons' and then up and sign with Alabama clear across the country.
It's interesting the way 247 now has the highest rated recruits in history down at the bottom of the front page, and as one scrolls through, just how many 5-star guys at Oregon either barely contributed or were total busts. The ducks could always use a linebacker of course, but there do seem to be some red flags here.

Read some of the comments from the dawg fans. They have crowned Petersen as the Lord and Savior of all mankind.

Re: UW loses 5* LB Kaho, may be looking at Oregon
Washington spun this for positive PR, although they were powerless. Kaho didn't enroll, and since he's planning on red shirting anyway he could have gone to any school in the country. This way they get to say "oh look how gracious Coach Pete is."
Ol' Ruth and the Husky faithful are clinging to the notion that Kaho's dad is needing money for a divorce and is giving him to the highest bidder which is looking like Bama.
As for Cort Dennison following him on twitter and Kaho falling back, I doubt they had any actual contact until Kaho's official release because that might be a violation - a follow is not. As soon as the release from NLI was official USC coaches also followed him in droves.
It will be interesting to see if we do have a chance. It seems like Dennison knows him, and maybe more importantly Jim Mastro spent a long time in Reno and undoubtedly is plugged into the the football scene there. It looks like USC and Bama are our main competition, and it would be a coup to get a player of Kaho's standing. Even sweeter to drink the Husky tears. Maybe he can be our Budda Baker.
As for the story of Kaho losing 20lbs and all that stuff, I don't think that's 100% true and something his family came up with to justify him leaving Washington after they had second thoughts. This does seem shady, and going to Alabama would be a sure sign of that. I wouldn't be surprised if his dad mysteriously lands a well paying job in Tuscaloosa like Tua's dad.

I guess I missed that he was for sure redshirting, but you bring up a good point about being able to transfer anywhere in that case. The question remains why he signed an LOI and now doesn't want to go there though. You have to feel bad for the Hus..never mind. Bring on the lamentations of their women.GoDucksTroll wrote:Washington spun this for positive PR, although they were powerless. Meh, we lost jamal Elliott and Jalen hall in similar fashion so I dont feel too much empathy for them. Empathy to kaho for his family situation sure, but this isn't a totally unfamiliar circumstance, he just happens to be higher rated than some others who have done this.

I'm not sure he's redshirting, just what I read. If he's not it may put us at a disadvantage because I don't think he can enroll until September now but he still could at semester schools. Part of what helped us with Bryan Addison was the start of the second part of summer quarter. Maybe they make special exemptions for football players, not sure on the exact rules.Phalanx wrote:I guess I missed that he was for sure redshirting, but you bring up a good point about being able to transfer anywhere in that case. I also think the request to get out of the NLI was through the NCAA, and who knows if they would have approved the release given how inconsistent they are. In any case, yes let's pillage Montlake and salt the earth.

Kaho committed to Alabama. His recruiter was Tosh Lupoi, who is a symbol of college football integrity and has only once been suspended for cheating on the field (against us) and investigated for giving recruits money (at Washington). Nothing fishy to see here.

So he didn’t want to be closer to home, he wanted to be across the country? Ok then.

So am I reading this correctly, he is now headed to Alabama???? What happened to the health and family issues? Not trying to disparage the kid but if he is enrolling at Alabama immediately it does give one pause for thought.GoDucksTroll wrote:Kaho committed to Alabama. Sounds like Oregon dodged a bullet in dealing with this recruit's family.
