This was inevitable, especially the last few weeks. Good pick up for them.

Kind of a sh*tty move by USC's Rivals reporter to break news that recruits themselves should be allowed to announce first. He apologized but did it behind a frickin' paywall, which is not really apologizing publicly. His first inclination as a "journalist" should have been not to report anything until he'd gotten confirmation from the recruit himself. With Steele and his family not contacting him back, he could easily have held back on the story and not looked like such a click hunter for his site. Reminds me of what happened to Talanoa Hufanga's commitment getting broken by USC recruiting insider Scott Wolf before he was read to announce it publicly.

First thing I thought of, similar to Wolf and Hufanga. USC's staffs have always been really chummy with recruiting writers, and they get the scoop. Similar as to what happened with Malepeai a few years back when Wolf was saying he would visit USC in a month and commit to them, while our staff was twiddling their thumbs.

Thanks for Merganzer reminding me, but here's something that Steele mentioned to Isaah Crocker in an Instagram Live chat about Taggart's recruiting:

He just dropped his commitment video and he's an SC commit, as expected.

I’m no insider and have no idea if we are recruiting DB’s but I am positive they will go after Chris Steele. As well as every other school in the country.

I gotta think Oregon will make a push. I do know that Florida was one of the
favorites before he picked USC. He has a good relationship with their coaches.
But i wont discount our coaches as well.. hope we have a chance

Probably in his top 3 unless there are new players

Also, speculation, but direction at Oregon is way up, USC is just going sideways

After de-committing I would assume he's looking around if he's still interested in playing college football. Although, maybe Jalen Hall is giving him life advice.
