It's been a long while since Oregon closed with a flourish.

I think he’s gone. This is supported by all the JC offers going out.

Leavitt looking around and ready to jump at any opening also may have had a small influence and rocked the image of oregon having a solid defensive scheme, identity, and staff in place for the next four years he would be here.thomas time wrote:what happened so quick? Just bama being bama?

And also he saw our progress, improvements, and domination against top pac12 teams in games up to his OV. And then we started to regress and go downhill in a few of those awful losses. At the end of the day, most of the top recruits these days want instant gratification and play for top teams/super teams. Bama is always the easy choice, the money is always available, you can major in Hooked on Phonics so you can focus entirely on football, and NFL scouts overate SEC players, let alone Bama players, resulting in them being drafted way higher than they should. While I still think Oregon pulls it off, Bama wouldn’t be much of a surprise.

Re: Thibodeaux announces top 4, commitment party info
If you were concerned about a coordinator leaving you wouldn't go to Alabama, whose coordinators are always on a half dozen coaching target/rumor lists every year and one or the other Coordinator does leave about every other year for a HC job.
The reason I always thought Thibodeaux would end up at an Alabama, Clemson or Ohio State is he choose to go to school at Oaks Christian. Kids that go there usually aren't interested in being a building block in a rebuild. They want to be on a team with a talent edge before, during and after there enrollment.

Is there more than Jhop flip flopping on his prediction here. I would think if there was major insider news everyone would be CBing to Bama all of the sudden. Hopefully MC can get to him and get him to sign with the ducks

Greg Biggins also changed his prediction to Alabama even though he's hearing contrasting things. He just thinks the mystique and success of Alabama wins out as the excitement from KT's visit to Oregon back in October wanes.brich75 wrote:Is there more than Jhop flip flopping on his prediction here. Agreed, it’s just like RJ Barrett, had to go to the best school, I wasn’t surprised when he chose Duke.GrandpaDuck wrote:If you were concerned about a coordinator leaving you wouldn't go to Alabama, whose coordinators are always on a half dozen coaching target/rumor lists every year and one or the other Coordinator does leave about every other year for a HC job.

We can thank Kevin Durant for that, since him kids just want to take the easy way out like he did, forget working hard to earn a championship, take the easy way out. I wish these kids noticed that people still don’t respect Durant very much, if KT goes to Bama he won’t stand out he’ll just be known as another cog in the Saban machine, only player that has stood out there for the last few years is Tua. At Oregon he’d definitely stand out.

Not sure I buy any of the doom and gloom. Why would he announce a top 4 and in the same day leak any information to anyone, let alone any team 2 weeks ahead of his big scheduled announcement? Doesn’t make any sense to me that he cuts USC, keeps 4 other teams, but now the cat is out of the bag...Makes no sense.

Um, I think top recruits were picking top teams before KD.OregonFan4Life wrote:Agreed, it’s just like RJ Barrett, had to go to the best school, I wasn’t surprised when he chose Duke.GrandpaDuck wrote:If you were concerned about a coordinator leaving you wouldn't go to Alabama, whose coordinators are always on a half dozen coaching target/rumor lists every year and one or the other Coordinator does leave about every other year for a HC job.

Believe. Sounds like jhop got word from the staff. He's going to bama
Also, tons of new offers out to jucos and other plan c guys that don't have any major conference offers
Lots of smoke indicating things went sideways on the defensive recruiting

True, but for me personally seems like it got a little worse after Durant did that.DuckMastaFunk wrote:Um, I think top recruits were picking top teams before KD.OregonFan4Life wrote:Agreed, it’s just like RJ Barrett, had to go to the best school, I wasn’t surprised when he chose Duke.GrandpaDuck wrote:If you were concerned about a coordinator leaving you wouldn't go to Alabama, whose coordinators are always on a half dozen coaching target/rumor lists every year and one or the other Coordinator does leave about every other year for a HC job.
