Lattimore update
http://oregon.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1014210
Loved this past weekend's Penn State visit. Gave it a 10. Will visit Eugene January 16th.
Lattimore said that there were big differences in the Northern and Southern schools, and both have their positives. One of the big things Penn State had going for it was the game day atmosphere at Beaver Stadium.
"It was crazy, it was something that you can't even describe, you have to see it for yourself," he said. "Especially the student section, there's like 20,000 plus, and about half o them were chanting my name when I walked onto the field. You just have to see it because it was crazy. There were 110,000 people, and it was real loud, especially on third down, it's crazy."
Sucks he isn't visiting the Ducks during a game.
I hope we get Seastrunk because I think Lattimore goes to Penn State or Auburn.

Re: Lattimore update
Auburn took Michael Dyer, i'd guess its less likely that Latts or Lache would also go there. Latts had a good visit to penn st, but he's still very much interested in us and will visit in jan. although he's not coming for a game, we'll still be his last visit, so thats a plus. Lache still needs to reschedule his visit if he's truly interested.

Re: Lattimore update
Lattimore added a visit to North Carolina Jan. 22nd and Georgia Jan. 29th
I was hoping since he wasn't visiting during a game we could at least get him last.
I have a feeling it is going to be another T.Pryor/B. Brown situation with him and we lose out in the end..... again.

I dunno, we don't have a massive thunder back this year and we seem to be doing pretty darn well. Although I wouldn't turn one down!

Re: Lattimore update
I just like the added dimension to the offense with one on the roster. It wouldn't hurt if the big bruiser on the roster also happened to be one of the top RB's in the country.

Re: Lattimore update
There have been several situations earlier this season, including the loss to Stanford, where the availability of a thunder back in late game, or short yardage/goal-line situations would have been nice.\\
James/Barner fill the lightning back position quite nicely, but the abillity to use a thunder back as a big blocker or to get that extra few inches of push in a critical situation (Such as the failed 4th down conversion attempt late in the Stanford game) is a luxury the Ducks could use.

If anyone doubts the usefulness of a big back just go back and watch the highlights of JStew falling forward and almost never going down behind the LOS every time touched the ball.

Except for the end of the civil war game in 2007.

Re: Lattimore update
It's going to be interesting in how the staff fills out the RB slots. With what we have right now, there's going to be James and Barner getting the bulk of the carries with Alston and possibly Grant to get whatever is left. Mops stated that he thought they were going to bring in 3 RBs to complete the depth chart but getting 2 is looking to be a real struggle. I wonder if the staff is going to be questioning themselves for possibly turning down Dontae Williams if both Lattimore and Seastrunk go elsewhere and are left with their plan B or C RBs.

LMJ is a beast no doubt, but he definitely can't punish defenders the way Stewart did...Boom wrote:LMJ might have something to say about thatSeattleDuck wrote:If anyone doubts the usefulness of a big back just go back and watch the highlights of JStew falling forward and almost never going down behind the LOS every time touched the ball.

Re: Lattimore update
Maybe the Ducks go after a Big JC back as a fallback. LMJ, Barner, Alston and Grant is a good core but it would be nice to compliment them with a big back and have the depth. Plus it would be nice to RS Grant if possible.
