Recruting Update 11.24

Troy Hill - Visited Arizona for the Ducks game. Likes the Arizona coaches but doesn't think the atmosphere fits him, however he has not eliminated them. Still has a visit at Washington. Oregon is at or near the top.

Tyler Stephenson - Was also at the Arizona game. Still committed to Baylor. He really enjoyed Arizona and plans on making his decision in January. It will probably come down to Arizona and Oregon.

Owamagbe Odighizuwa - Visited Nebraska over the weekend. Really liked it but still isn't sure what he wants to do. He says a visit for the Civil War game is highly unlikely as he would have to miss basketball practice and school.

Colt Lyerla - Recently picked up an offer from UCLA. Oregon, Oklahoma and Miami are his top schools right now with Oregon way out in front at the moment, though it is really early.

Sean Parker - Is interested in visiting Oregon. USC is in the mix, has cooled on Notre Dame.

Gabe King - Visiting USC this weekend. USC has recently been putting the heat on both King and Owa. Cal and Oregon still lead with Oregon now the slight overall leader.

Marcus Lattimore - Still plans on visiting in January with his family.

James Scales and Ethan Grant are both planning on visiting during the Civil War game. Chris McCain is also trying to come out for the game.

Awesome those guys can do some recruiting themselves! :P

Awesome to hear we're the slight leader for Gabe. Him & Owa would be a ridiculous pull.

Side note, Can you imagine going up against Owa on the hardwood? :? No thanks.

Bjoern Werner 3* DT who is visiting for the Civil War game says the Ducks are right now his leader.

That is good news, I am sure after a crazy game day experience and a Ducks trip to the Rose Bowl will increase the lead the Ducks have! :P

How great would it be to finally land some top DT's that can qualify.

Uko is a long shot but still in the mix and the Ducks have a legit shot with Heimuli and Werner.

Anybody have anything new on Potoae? He is committed to Washington but earlier he expressed interest in the Ducks after his commitment.

Never mind on Uko he says he is down to USC and UCLA and doesn't plan on visiting Oregon because he says it would be a waste of everyone's time since he is down to the 2 LA schools. Hope we can get at least Werner but Heimuli as well would be great!

Sucks about Uko, but once again, at least he's not jerking us around.

I did have a dream that Owa committed to Oregon. Totally random, but let's hope I'm at least somewhat psychic!

George Uko is the recruit I want to land the most this year and for me it's not even close. He has the talent, size and attitude to come in and play right away for us next year and hopefully that is something he is looking for.
As for where he is going to go, I have heard there is no way Uko signs with the Bruins, because his dad doesn't like them. The only reason he went on the UCLA visit was to hang out with some of his buddies who go there. It's going to come down to SC and Oregon and because his dad loves SC I believe he will go there. One thing to remember though is that crazier things have happened in recruiting and if we can get Uko and his dad to come up here for an official visit we have a shot, but if the visit keeps getting delayed we might as well forget about it. Hopefully we get lucky and come February we get Uko's LOI. The other DT's (Heimuli, Werner, Potoae?) we are after are must gets if we don't get Uko and even if we do get Uko we need to land at least 1 more DT. I think out of Heimuli and Werner, Werner is the most raw, but he also has IMO the most potential. My cousin lives in Hartford, Conn and he is a big football fan. He has seen Werner play a handful of times and says that with some good coaching Werner could turn into an absolute monster. He also compared him to Igor Olshansky, because like Igor he is raw (In High school) in terms of technique, extremely strong, athletic, has a mean streak and was born overseas. What I like about Werner is that he is 6-4 270 and is very athletic for his size. With that size and athleticism he could easily be beefed up into a monster DT, which is probably what will happen, but he could also stay at around his current weight and play DE for us if necessary. I want this kid.
Does anyone know if Sione Potoae is still looking at other schools? Or is he still going to stay with the Mutts?
