Sheldon's John Campbell
Per Mops' Twitter, John Campbell, teammate of commit Curtis White, had 10 catches for 204 yards and 3 tds in a win over Canby tonight. He's 6' 180 and per rivals runs a 4.38 forty (3.8 GPA is a cherry as well). He's averaging 117 receiving ypg and 27 tds on the season.

Re: Sheldon's John Campbell
I seriously doubt he runs anywhere even close to a legit 4.38 forty. Here is a link to his highlight video on YouTube for anyone that is interested:Hoagduck wrote:Per Mops' Twitter, John Campbell, teammate of commit Curtis White, had 10 catches for 204 yards and 3 tds in a win over Canby tonight. He certainly doesn't look as quick as LMJ, which is what the numbers would suggest... Campbell didn't seem to have remotely breakaway speed in the video.

I've heard that Sheldon's quarterback is also really good
Does anybody know anything about him?

Trust me on this one guys... Campbell is good.. Look up his stats on max preps.. then think that he only plays in the first half because sheldon is torching teams... Johnny Campbell is going to be a huge surprise for whoever gets him... campbell is much like maehl but I really think he could be better in the long run. OSU is talking to him and Campbell looks like a Mike Hass type player. Really guys you will have to take my word for this. There is a HUGE reason why John has three times the amounts of yardage than our favorite local player Curtis White. Not taking anything away from Curt, he is going to be good... but John is just as good. Hell against Tigard in the first round JC blocked a FG (also scooped up the ball and ran it back 73 yards to the house) and blocked two more extrapoints... plus caught 2 tds and returned a kickoff... Also had a pick.. Kid will be good. Trust me. Also, Jordy Johnson.. 3000+ passing yards and 1000+ rushing in one season.. smart kid.. Why oregon isn't looking at him I have no clue except his is 6' maybe 6'1''.. But Johnson is a lot better than the West Salem QB Smith who is supposed to be a top 20 qb for next year... Trust me on this guys.

How serious is the Beavers' interest in Campbell? Do you think they will offer? If Campbell doesn't receive any major offers, would he be willing to walk-on at Oregon? Are the Oregon coaches in contact with him at all regarding that possibility?hermistonduck wrote:Trust me on this one guys... Campbell is good.. If by 4.38 they mean 4.7 then yeah he runs a 4.38. He looked good but not Duck caliber (at least scholly. At the very best he would be a fall back option at the last minute.

Re: Sheldon's John Campbell
Campbell is no doubt good but his numbers may be spiked because of the system sheldon runs and because of the way they dominate their conference. also that 4.38 40 time was probably hand clocked by a coach like most 40 times are. still a good player and worth a walk-on offer but i dont think we will have the schollies to offer him this year. as for jordan johnson, he is a super heady kid, coaches son. he is a little undersized and that may be why he isnt getting too many looks. i believe he was leaning towards going to montana where i believe he would be a great player. as for the brett smith comparison, brett has the better measureables and a stronger arm. probably a little more athletic than johnson and also a year younger so we havent seen the best of him yet.

Re: Sheldon's John Campbell
Man, it kills me when someone is devalued because of their 40 time. All things being equal, I want a fast guy with an awesome 40. But there are so many intangibles. Would you want Maehl or Holland? I know that's an extreme example, but if the kid can catch and hang on to the ball, there should always a place for him.
My point being is I think 40 time can be important, but there are so many other factors. I hope he can get on somewhere, but specifically Oregon! Of course if he goes to Oregon State, I hope he's bust.

If Campbell's numbers are inflated, then why is Curtis White so good?

Because he is 6'5 240, runs a 4.6 forty, is super athletic and has really good hands.

Guess I have to just trust the coaches on this one. I haven't gotten anyone to the rose bowl last I checked.

No offense. But high school football in Oregon is a joke... if that kid lived in the state of Florida, he'd be fighting for a starting spot on a high school team. My high school in Florida had 800 kids in it, and we had 5 guys my graduating year get scholarships to BCS schools. In Oregon, there's like 10 in the entire state.
