Apparently he is listed on the school roster at 275 and 6'6". So, maybe he did play inside. Also, on the scout site for UCF, they were looking at him as a potential inside guy as well. All he has done since high school is gain weight. Maybe he is Blake Ferras by the start of Fall Camp.Tray Dub wrote:Brandon Bair is another guy who doesn't look like he's big enough to play DT, but he's done a solid job this year. He's 6-7, 270. This guy could get up that big too if he puts in the work.

This is probably a bad sign when it comes to King/Owa. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't get either at this point.

Looks like you might be right. Look at the OWA thread.

Re: New Commit
Since this kid is counting against last years class I don't think it gives us any clue as to where we are with King & Owa. Coaches found a kid they could bring in early & have count against this past years class so they jumped on it. I bet if there wasn't the option of him enrolling in December they wouln't have gone after him. Just my posiDuck view, oppossed to the negaduck view.Hoagduck wrote:This is probably a bad sign when it comes to King/Owa. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't get either at this point.

I don't understand this line of reasoning because whether this guy is taking Brown's spot from this year or not, it is still taking a spot. Am I missing something?dthomas=ddixon wrote:Since this kid is counting against last years class I don't think it gives us any clue as to where we are with King & Owa. Stewart Mandel-"From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I much prefer to watch a good spread-rushing offense over a traditional Power-I offense, and Oregon's has been the most fun by far for the past several years. It's fast, its precise, and when Chip Kelly has the right quarterback (Dixon, Masoli) at the helm, the possibility of someone ripping off a 60-yard run exists on nearly every play."

Re: New Commit
If he counts against the 2009 scholarship limit, that is 1 more schollie available for 2010.
He still needs to earn a spot on the 2 deep. Incoming 2010 recruits will as well.
Had Justin Brown qualified, it probably would not have significantly changed the outlook for incoming freshman.
Depth on the DL would still be a priority. This is a good way to acheive it without detrimental impact on 2010 recruiting.

I don't think so. Since the Ducks aren't over the 25 rides per year limit he is taking a spot from this recruiting class.bigsugarduck wrote:I don't understand this line of reasoning because whether this guy is taking Brown's spot from this year or not, it is still taking a spot. Re: New Commit
Yeah it still takes a scholly but my view is its a guy that they can bring in NOW so they jumped on it. They aren't bringing him in because they've missed on Owa & King. This guy can be here before the bowl game & be working out & on the team the second the seasons over so it will really help our Dline depth coming into next year. Its rare to be able to add a recruit in that way. To me it has nothing to do with Owa & King. Its a completely separate matter.bigsugarduck wrote:I don't understand this line of reasoning because whether this guy is taking Brown's spot from this year or not, it is still taking a spot. It's call thinking for the immediate future... I bet the coaches already know he will qualify.

Everybody thinks that we are very much in it for King. In fact, I really don't think anybody can say anything about OWA. He still has to have his UOV, which his Mom will be attending. She is raising like 5 boys and attending school. I really feel with OWA that Mom may have a bigger voice when all is said and done. In the past this worked against us with Tahj Boyd but I really think we might get Mom on our side by the end.Hoagduck wrote:This is probably a bad sign when it comes to King/Owa. All I want for Christmas is......Ricky Heimuli to sign a LOI with OREGON! In the same "vein" as HALOTI NGATA (litteraly)! Picking him up will SOLIDIFY our needs @ the DT position for the next 3-4 years!

At DT he will most likely redshirt and then take a two year mission. You might as well pretend he is a 2013 recruit. I want Werner and King.polyduck wrote:All I want for Christmas is......Ricky Heimuli to sign a LOI with OREGON! In the same "vein" as HALOTI NGATA (litteraly)!
