Re: Trust the coaches
well a couple of things. like one of the posters mentions, the masoli 1 star thing is just because he wasn't rated by anyone. he was arguably the best JC qb in the country which pretty much means he was at least a 4 star kid. asper is a 2 star because when players go on missions, they are rarely ever re-ranked when they come back. and one has to remember that getting a scholie FROM ANY D-1 school means you get at least 2 stars. so if you only get ONE scholie offer from U of Idaho and ZERO other offers, you get 2 stars.maxduck wrote:A link to eDuck and a listing of the Ducks starting lineup and the recruiting stars when they signed. Masoli was a 1 star at the time he was signed. Scout re-evaluated him after he signed to a 3 star.

Both the pre and post signing evaluations are still on the Scout site.

I trust the coaches with offensive players, but I'm not sure about defensive players. If the problem isn't Aliotti, it must be the talent or lack of talent on the defensive side of the ball. Finding a few guys that can put pressure on opposing qb's would be nice. We'll find guys occasionally like a Nick Reed or Kenny Rowe, but not enough.

Also...this is the first year I've been happy with our linebackers. Its not that we haven't signed good ones, like Terrance Pritchett who was the #2 MLB in the country, but sometimes they just haven't panned out. I dont know if they've been just busts or issues in developing, but I think that was one of the biggest differences this year with our defense playing better.duckgrad99 wrote:I trust the coaches with offensive players, but I'm not sure about defensive players. I mean we've had some good ones (trucks and phillips come to mind right off the top of my head) but never a complete LB corp since the Madson Moretti Mallard and Mitchell days.
Other than linebackers, I couldn't be happier with our recruiting and development though.

Re: Trust the coaches
Having 2 or 3 of those failure to qualify 4-5 Star interior linemen make it in may well have gone a long ways toward making the other members of the defense look a lot better.

Pleasant, Matthews and Paysinger 1 more year together.
I've really liked the play of Kaddu, Alonso, Clay and Littlejohn this year as well.
Waiting in the wings we have Boseko Lokombo and Dewitt Stuckey - both those guys have potential as well.
I'm pumped!

the two and three star guys that start might only be starting becasue staff wiffed on the 4 and 5 star guys they wanted and offered.
Maybe the Ducks would be undefeated and in the NC game the last two yrs if they got the 4 and 5 star guys they recruited.
