The portal really sucks for fans. Was always fun to see kids develop and get their chance.

Always figured Benson or Dollars would end up in the transfer portal.

Re: Dollars in the portal
I saw a tweet from Lanning this morning indicating he landed in Eugene this morning, I hope he did land in Eugene and he was able to save the transfer.

Time for Dye and Verdell to move on. Our future at the position is going to be gone by the time they finish their careers here.

Re: Dollars in the portal
Dollars is probably the least physically gifted of the backs, but in the limited time we saw him in action, had some of the better vision. Two years ago, when we watched Verdell and Dye take their heed from Mastro and repeatedly slam into the backs of linemen, Dollars and his 'naivite' would do this crazy thing where instead he'd find space and pick up 4-8 yards at a time.
In the running back room now, he and Benson are probably the low men on the totem pole. Benson is big, but doesn't run as tough as you'd think. Dollars has vision, but Cardwell has that vision plus more size and speed. He was very overrated as a prospect, but he could be really solid for a Mountain West team, ala Cyrus Habibi-Likio.

Verdell, for everyone’s sake but especially his own, should move on.dthomas=ddixon wrote:Time for Dye and Verdell to move on. Our future at the position is going to be gone by the time they finish their careers here.

But Dye??? This is my third year of preaching it here, but Dye is really good and we’re lucky to have him.
Why would you want him gone? He’s one of the best running backs in program history. The potential of any running back on this roster isn’t as high as Dye’s. If it was three years of Cardwell vs one of Dye I’d pick Cardwell. But one year of Dye is better than Dollars and Benson’s combined careers will be.
He needs 300 yards of total offense to pass Kenjon for number three in UO history for his career, behind Royce and LaMike. At a better yards per touch than Royce and equal to Kenjon. 500 more rushing yards to pass him. Without the benefit of a dynamic offense like Barner was part of.

Yes, he has one more year if he wants it because 2020 doesn’t count towards eligibility.alxtw wrote:does verdell still have eligibility to play next year?
2017: redshirt
2018: RS freshman
2019: RS sophomore
2020: RS junior (free space )
2021: RS junior
Dye is the same, except for no redshirt since he was in high school in 2017 and played as a true freshman in 2018. Seems like a lifetime ago, can’t blame people for their fatigue.
