Oregon @ Washington State (Thursday 3:30 PM)
Oregon 8-4 @ Washington State 10-2
8-4 is OK. Definitely wished for a 10-2 start, but 8-4 is livable. Now to the games that really matter. I expect us to go 0-2. If we manage to win a game on this trip, I'd be stunned.
My prediction: Washington State 73 Oregon 58

Now is the time where I really start getting into college basketball. Gotta win this one, because I expect Washington to be much tougher.

I think it's bullshit to ever root against your own team. I know you're a true Duck fan from reading your other posts, but I think that's pretty messed up.dthomas=ddixon wrote:Go whoever is playing us. I'm so sick of Ernie.

Sorta got to agree here. Don't know why you'd root against the Ducks. Heck if Ernie was a good coach I'd want him to stay and continue to coach. I've got nothing personal against the man.Tray Dub wrote:I think it's bullshit to ever root against your own team. Yeah I haven't quite crossed over to rooting against us but I sure as heck feel like it sometimes. But I can't root against these kids. Guys like Dunigan, Williams, Crittle & Humphrey who I followed all through their recruitment & was so excited for when they got here.bellsduck wrote:Sorta got to agree here. Honestly though, if its for the good of the team (us getting a capable coach) is it that bad to root against your team? Root for better years ahead? Idk, I just want a good coach for the sake of these kids & this basketball program. Go Ducks.

Re: Oregon @ Washington State (Thursday 3:30 PM)
Oregon has not beat WSU or UW since 2007 and that streak is NOT going to end this weekend. Here is why:
1) The defense looks as bad as last season, which is actually shocking. Dunlap was supposed to come in and fix the defense, which has not happened to date. Oregon has allowed several inferior teams that they should have shut down to shoot over 50% in games. Dunlap's "90-foot all game defense" seems to be giving up more easy buckets then creating pressure for the opposing team. That does not boad well for for this weekend.
2) Oregon has really been struggling from the FT line so far. For a team that lacks "scorers" and is struggling on defense, this is a huge problem.
3) Oregon only has 1 consistent scorer on their roster and that is Porter - some may even argue with that claim. The reamining roster is filled with guys that will have "on" and "off" games. Oregon needs players that can penetrate, create their own shots, and score consistently to be successful because of the lack of a decent 1/2 court offense. I don't see those players on this roster. Maybe Williams and Longmire have the potential in the future to be that type of player, but they have been grossly inconsistent against inferior teams in OOC play so far and have grade issues and have lost their starting spots. The chance that they "break out" this weekend is slim to none.
4) Oregon has had some success when they have an EXPERIENCED NBA level PG on their roster. Armstead looks pretty good so far, but he is not Brooks or Rid right now. Also, I just don't see the talent around him that those guys had.
My score predictions:
WSU 75; Oregon 64
UW 91; Oregon 71

Hold Thompson under 20 points and the ducks win. Simple as that
