Rasheed was arguably not even the best player on those blazer teams. Though he should have been, but he refused to be the leader. Guy was a mental midget, and if I was putting together an all time team, I wouldn’t want him on it. The blazers lost game 6 to the Lakers because he was too mentally soft to take the shots down the stretch. He had all the talent, and could have been Garnett like, but he didn’t want to be that.

Pffft. Are you serious? It was Game 7, and Sheed score 30 points in that game on 13 of 26 shooting, even with all those misses he had down the stretch. How many did you want him to score? They lost that game because the refs fouled Sabonis and Pippen out, and they had Brian Grant trying to guard Shaq. The refs wanted the Lakers to win, so they did.

Kevin Garnett called Sheed the best big man he ever had to guard, including Tim Duncan. McGrady also. For me, it's a matter of which players led their teams to victory. Sheed may have had his emotional issues, but he was an amazing team player, played hard defense, and stepped up his game in the playoffs, which Lillard never did. I don't care about stats, I care about winning.

Sheed was great, but if we're talking Blazer GOAT then he has a serious Walton problem. Walton was easily the better of the two.

Sheed was also way too much of a headcase for me to seriously consider him our GOAT. We won a lot of games with him, but those were also great teams. He wasn't even the best player on the 2000 WCF team. I would take Sheed over LaMarcus Aldridge any day though.

Fun Fact: I was at UofO when the Blazers played a preseason exhibition in Corvallis against the Sonics. Went to the game with my sister (who went to OSU) and two lasting memories stand out: 1) A Sonics player (Maybe Reuben Patterson?) shot and missed a free throw from a volleyball line (like half the distance to the basket), and 2) Rasheed got ejected with two technicals from the bench. Fun times. Oddly enough, I also went to a game at Golden State when Rasheed started a fight after hitting a game-winning shot. Also fun times!

I never said Sheed was the best Blazer ever. I just said I'd take him over Lillard. My best Blazer ever is Drexler, followed by Walton. For third, I would take Sheed over Lillard. And yes, he was the best player on that 2000 WCF team. I have no idea who you think was, but everyone knew back then it was him. Pippen was still good, but past his prime, and Sabonis was WAY past his prime.

I'd take Pippen over Rasheed on that team... not for offensive output, but just overall performance and consistency. And actually not sure I'd take Rasheed over Sabonis either. I'm a bit biased on that because Sabonis is my favorite Blazer ever, but Sabonis was the only reason we even stood a chance against Shaq. It's just too bad that Sabonis got called for fouls whenever he'd dare breathe on The Big Aristotle.

My hottest take re: basketball is that if Sabonis had come when we'd drafted him we would have been a dynasty through most of the 1990s. We drafted him in 1986, and a year later he suffered an achilles tear (injured it at first, but then tried to play through it without fully recovering). That cascaded into other injuries, and by the time we got him he was just shell of his former self -- but still really, really good. Pretty much had his way with everyone except Shaq.

Just imagine... Sabonis and Porter orchestrating the offense, with Drexler and Kersey attacking the paint, Porter popping out for 3s, Buck cleaning up the glass, and then Sabonis stepping out for 3s once the defense got sucked in. Maddness. He had Dirk's shooting touch (before there was Dirk), Giannis' athleticism (before there was Giannis) and Jokic's passing ability (before there was Jokic) and also with Magic Johnson's flare.

Prime Sabonis would have been an elite center if in the NBA right now. He might have been the best player in basketball had he played here during the late 80s or early 90s. He would have been doing things that bigs here weren't doing for another 20 years.

If prime Broy was 5 years longer. Its a real shame we only got to see that for a short time due to injuries.

Is being a broke mf even one of the options here? This fool is already under contract, so I'm not sure what his tweet has to do with anything.

Translation: "Hey, you guys were all talking about conference realignment and forgot about me, so I need to post something to get me back in the news and keep applying pressure to Portland to make an uneven trade". I wonder if his agent told him to post that. Anyone still think Lillard is not all about the dollars? This is who he always was.
