Dillon Baxter RB or QB recruit for the Ducks?
Dillon Baxter was recruited by USC as a RB because they don't run the spread. I understand USC did promise him they would install some Wild Condom plays for him.
But for Oregon (or Florida) wouldn't he be recruited as a QB with a option of RB/Tazer if he didn't win the starting QB job? Scout lists just his Junior statistics but look at his Senior statistics I found on Max Prep
Passing: 102-166 for 1922 yards .614% 148 per game. 25 TDs against 7 interceptions
Rushing: 261 2974 yards on 261 carries, 11.40 per carry, 228.8 yard Per Game, 50 rushing touchdowns
13-0 record after 6-5-1 the previous year.
In my fantasy couch-potato coaching league I would recruit him as a QB/ Athlete and still go after Lache. Between QB/Tazer/RB/Slot and WR I think you would have no trouble finding PT for both of them down the road. Of coarse I understand real coaches who actually know what they are talking about may differ.

I would guess a multi purpose RB. I think that Chip would draw up some passing plays for him but he would primarily be a RB.

Are you guessing that based on something you have heard? Do you (or does anyone here) know if he has a preference for RB over QB?
Maybe he has a throwing motion worse than Chris Harper. But then we did recruit Harper as a QB even though he threw a football like a shot put. His high school passing stats are significantly better than Harper, Bolden, Hawkin's and Munchies. Not that HS Stats are the end all.
I don't know myself and am curious if anyone knows why he is not considered a Dual Threat QB?

Just a guess. My only real basis for it is that we have already recruited a highly rated QB in this class and Chip as been pretty adamant about wanting a QB that can run instead of a RB that can throw.GrandpaDuck wrote:Are you guessing that based on something you have heard? Baxter is going east, no need to discuss this. on the other hand, we are a bigtime player for dj morgan. So if we miss on lache, we got a good one in morgan who could come in. Morgan is said to be decommitting as well...

Morgan would be nice, but I prefer Lache. It's awesome that Oregon seems to be in the running for several top running backs right now. I hope we get one of them.

Only to be overshadowed by our signing of 13 DB's....which we seem to be shooting for.Diehardduckfan wrote:UOducksTK1 wrote:karlhungis wrote:lol, now we are in on Morgan....and Brown, and Baxter, and Seastrunk, and Lattimore....

Re: Dillon Baxter RB or QB recruit for the Ducks?
The coaches have already told Bennet that they wouldn't recruit another QB in this class (they pulled the offer from Munchie), so that could be one reason that we are recruiting him as a RBGrandpaDuck wrote:Dillon Baxter was recruited by USC as a RB because they don't run the spread.
