The Other Guys - Week 6 games
UCLA looking competent against Penn State early despite the backup QB starting.
SMU could knock Louisville out of playoff contention.
Boston College got their starting QB back and is looking to get right.
Ranked matchup of Southeastern teams I care absolutely zero about (Texas A&M and Missouri).

Re: The Other Guys - Week 6 games
Obviously the Iowa-OSU game is on the radar today, not for an upset really but more to see how Iowa's Defense looks against their Offense.
Cristobal vs Wilcox has to be worth the price of staying up late to see that finish, right?
Fortunately it looks like there is little life in Purdue because after the OSU game, we go on the road for another Friday game (lame).
Dubs Down means Go Blue today, lol.
I wonder if USC has any kind of struggles in Minnesota and if some of these farmland schools become like Corvallis for them.
I suppose we need to circles the wagons for Indiana at some point for ranking purposes because they could possibly enter their end of year back to back against Michigan and Ohio State undefeated.
Florida State is such a train wreck its almost fun to watch. There's a big part of me that wonders how much DJU needed Jonathan Smith and vice versa with having structure to play under. (Or just become a TE already ala Terrelle Pryor)

Re: The Other Guys - Week 6 games
I'd say DJU's success, and whatever he's making this year through NIL, is very much the byproduct of Smith's offense and coaching. Put simply, he's looked terrible in every non-Smith setting, but average to above average at OSU.
Missouri should fall to the bottom of the top 25. The BC win is a solid one, but they had them at home and were evenly matched, and their rankings should reflect they're in the same tier. Edit: Maybe Missouri will drop out because this is a thorough ass-kicking by a team that's fringe top 25.

Man, Missouri is getting beat down. Talk about SEC teams getting overrated. Probably they will drop one spot and aTm will rise to top 5.

I think we can all agree Missouri never had any business being ranked 6th ever.
A least Ole Miss had a good roster and I could see bouncing back.

Mizzou’s role is to build the top SEC teams resumes. Start the year in the top 20, win your OOC games, rise into the top 10, then lose to the other ranked SEC teams so the voters can either justify their ranking or vault them up the rankings.

Maybe... Georgia isn't that good? 7-3 over Auburn but Auburn has moved the ball better almost halfway through the game.
Hilarious that Alabama is down 7-0 to Vandy, as well.
These "super leagues" (Big Ten and Southeastern Conference) maybe aren't as super as we thought.

Re: The Other Guys - Week 6 games
Iowa usually has a stout defense, but their inability to score has kept them in mediocrity. It's 7-0 OSU right now, but we'll have to wait and see how it plays out.Duck07 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 9:48 am Obviously the Iowa-OSU game is on the radar today, not for an upset really but more to see how Iowa's Defense looks against their Offense.

Cristobal vs Wilcox?
Nope. I'll be in bed, though I hope Cal wins.
I have to pull for Michigan. I don't like UW and a win over a strong Michigan team would look good on our schedule.
I think Minnesota will give USC a game, but I think the Trojans pull it out.
I'd be shocked if Indiana went undefeated, but they could make the playoffs with one loss. The Ducks don't play them unless it's in the BIG-10 Championship game.
Honestly, I don't know what's going on at FSU. I feel bad for Mike Norvell. They came up short for the playoffs last year, got blown out by Georgia in their Bowl game, and now they don't look anything like the team they were last year. I hope he can find a way to turn it around and make a Bowl game.

Kirk Ferentz is so overly conservative it just keeps Iowa from winning by sort of game. That timeout right before they converted a 4th and 1 on a fake punt was painful.
Ohio State is far from unbeatable. Howard is Ok but nothing amazing and same with their OLine. They do have a fantastic DLine that can wreak havoc in the pass and running game so ducks need to be ready for that. But I’m not seeing any reason the ducks won’t beat tOSU if they simply don’t beat themselves.

Beck kinda sucks lately. They’re up 14-3 now, almost half.StevensTechU wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 1:37 pm Maybe... Georgia isn't that good? 7-3 over Auburn but Auburn has moved the ball better almost halfway through the game.

Vandy scores again, up 20-7 now vs. Alabama. It's okay, the refs still have 2.5 quarters to ensure the correct outcome.

Are Ohio State WR’s using stick em? The amount of one handed catches their receivers have is obscene!

Oh man way to go Vandy. 5 minutes left and now they've got a 12 point lead!

Re: The Other Guys - Week 6 games
I think Ohio State and Oregon are very similar teams. Both have offenses that are probably capable of more than they've put together in 4 quarters this year. Both very strong defenses. Neither super consistent but can compete with anyone.OregonFan4Life wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 1:53 pm Kirk Ferentz is so overly conservative it just keeps Iowa from winning by sort of game. If Alabama loses, I'm gonna go shotgun a beer with my neighbor who went to Vanderbilt. The hilarious part is she will have absolutely no idea what I'm celebrating because even Vanderbilt alumni don't pay attention to their football team.
