Thanks, appreciate the post! Back in the Chip Kelly Oregon days we had to deal with quite a few bandwagon fans as well, we started to get some more again as the team has gotten better but not near as much as we had back then, I can slightly understand how annoying those fans are though I’m sure you guys get it worse. I’m excited for this rivalry between Ohio State and Oregon going beyond this year (can we Oregon fans call it that or do we have to earn it?), we haven’t had a program in our conference near the caliber of Ohio State so this will be exciting for us duck fans!Wausbuck wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 5:38 pmBuckeye here coming in peace! With a fanbase as large as OSU's we have an overabundance of bandwagon fans and couch coaches who don't really understand the game of football. I'm really looking forward to the game Saturday, and like most of the fairly knowledgeable fans expect a hard fought close game. I can see it going either way. I'm disappointed because a trip to Autzen has always been on my bucket list and I had originally planned on coming out for the game, but unfortunately life got in the way and I can't make it. Maybe next time we visit you. Welcome to the B1G, it's great to have you guys. You were one of the schools I really hoped would be added. Here's to an injury free great game on Saturday!OregonFan4Life wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 2:19 pmThere definitely were some really knowledgeable and good posters, and I have no issues with Buckeye fans calling for a win even by two, maybe three scores. But saying Iowa is better in the trenches and has a better defense and predicting a blowout, or even shutout, just seems crazy to me. But like I said; because they’re a big time program, they probably have a bunch of naive fair weather fans that have 0 clue about who Oregon is and are just running on false PAC-12 narratives.

I think this is a fair possibility. Whether Gabriel is up to the challenge is a point of some doubt for me. I'm also really hoping there is more in the offensive playbook than we have seen thus far.UOducksTK1 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 8:15 pm
Ohio State fans seem to think their DBs are gonna lock up our WRs, causing Gabriel to have a rough day.

I think the coaches will setup some designed runs to help offset this. If we start having some success on the ground then they'll have no choice but to bring up their DBs. That goes for us, as well.Phalanx wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 4:54 amI think this is a fair possibility. Whether Gabriel is up to the challenge is a point of some doubt for me. Also, we have multiple good receivers that deserve respect, so I don't see any way they'll be able to cover everyone on every play. We're just too deep at the position.
I see a close, hard fought game with 2 national powers going at it hard for 60 minutes. I just hope Oregon finds a way to pull it out.

I have a lot of respect for the Iowa defense. They may be better than ours overall. The difference between us and Iowa is that we also play offense, and play it well. So if you have a team that can control the ball, score, and keep their offense off the field as much as possible, you should have much more success than vs a team that's one dimensional like Iowa.OregonFan4Life wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 1:35 pm I decided to check out the Ohio State forums for laughs and giggles, they sure are a confident bunch in Columbus….Saw some funny score predictions including 38-10, 50-10, and 42-0. Their reasoning wasn’t much better, saying how Iowa has a much better defense than Oregon and Iowa is much better than Oregon in the trenches so if Ohio State can handle Iowa Oregon will be no problem.

Are we no longer the Evil Empire in the B1G the way we were to essentially everyone but Utah in the P12? (Utah and Oregon seemed to have mutual respect for each other from Day 1)

The worst experience with OSU fans was 2005, when we were competing for a slot in the fiesta bowl. IIRC both teams had one loss that year. Realistically, it probably made sense to give it to OSU, since Clemens was out with a broken ankle, but the bulletin board arguments were fierce. I think most of the OSU posts were by teens from Cleveland, not alums. In any event, they won the fiesta and Oregon lost the holiday bowl.

So we're going with jersey pairings that will show up well on Black and White screens, guess that means a final score of like 17-13.

Damn they were good times with Chip. I love that he immediately corrects the reporter about "building the Oregon program" by saying it was Brooks and Bellotti and he just kind of jumped in at the end.

Looks good, I’m just not a fan of the all black uniforms not because it doesn’t look good but that it isn’t one of Oregons primary colors. Someone who’s good with photoshop or some other imaging tool should mock this up with yellow numbers/green outline with yellow helmets and shoes or the same thing but with apple green.

What are some of the matchups you're looking at in this game?
I know Dillon has had his RZ mistakes whereas the Bucks have been one of the nations best and I think have scored TDs on every RZ trip. I think the RZ is the area where the DB's have to be perfect. They can give up some catches between the 20s, but they'll need to be elite in the RZ.
When it comes to the OL/DL battle, when we're on Offense how does our IOL hold-up since its clearly our weaker link and Williams 91 vs Harper is a matchup in their favor. Conversely, on Defense Burch is going to face arguably the best LT in the nation at this point in the season in Josh Simmons. His counterpart at RT Fryar is the player whose matchup Matayo and Teitum have to be able to win the majority of the game not just on passing downs but in setting the Edge in the run game so the defense can't get outflanked. 2 Sacks on Howard from Matayo's Chop-move would go a long ways towards getting the Defense consistently off the field. We have to be able to Rush with 4 consistently to avoid the explosive passing plays by keeping 7 in coverage so that when we do bring 5, its getting home instantly.
