Post by ICamel »

Oregon 93 - Cal Baptist 63
Good balanced scoring for the Lady Ducks: Q1 - 25, Q2 - 22, Q3 - 21, Q4 - 25
4 Ducks in double figures. Another two with 9 points, one with 8 points, one with 7 points.
Shooting %: Game = 45.2%, Beyond the Arc = 41.9%
Only 5 turnovers for Oregon.
Philly played 10 minutes.
Charity stripe shooting needs improvement(14/22).

Nani Falatea injured her ankle in the first half and missed the rest of the game. They're already missing Arizona transfer Salimatou Kourouma to an injury that could cost her the entire season. Etute is still in Europe playing for her home country's national team but should be back soon.

Etute played in the exhibition and looked really good before heading for Europe. Even with Kourouma out and Falatea injured the team is still crowded at Guard. As Graves said he has no idea yet how the Guard rotation is going to turn out. This team is so much deeper than the crap show last year turned into.

After watching two (admittedly cupcake games) I am now more than ever convinced that if Peyton Scott hadn't got hurt in the first 5 minutes last year Oregon could of been at least a .500 team. The Ducks didnt have a Guard other than Gray who could create a shot on her own or hit a 3 or play point guard worth a darn. She can do all those things.

So far I have no idea how we'll do in conference this year but there are 14 D1 worthy players on this team and other than Phili at center who the other top 8 are is really hard to say. For example at guard Kelly and Scott could both score 16 a game if you needed them too, they each have 3 years of doing just that elsewhere. You cant keep Mevus off the court with her disruptive defense and efficient offense. Fatatea is a solid all around player who averaged double digits in the Big 12. Fasio, Bell and Long are your blue chip youth all have high ceilings so hopefully you can find enough minutes to keep them happy.

This team doesnt have a super star or multiple ones like each of the top teams in the PAC had last year. But they should be able to put an 8 or 9 deep rotation on the floor all year with out a weak link at any position and be pretty much injury immune. I'm not sure where that will land us in the B1G.
