Guys, we did make it to the Final Four. No need to burn the whole thing down.
Lanning needs to learn from this and raise the standard of his coordinators. A head should have rolled after last year's Rose Bowl debacle. Good vibes are nice but this isn't summer camp.

Completely agree. We made it further than last year with a team that was supposed to take a step back. This hurts and was a pretty major failure in almost every phase, but it was one game against the obviously best team in the country.pezsez1 wrote: Fri Jan 09, 2026 9:09 pm Guys, we did make it to the Final Four. Lanning just needs to keep building on what is a really solid foundation.

I don’t think it would have mattered, because Indiana is just a better and more experienced team, but there’s no way all of the distractions from the past week didn’t impact the game, between all of the transfers, coordinators having to focus on recruiting for their new schools (not their fault, rather the shitty system), and having the entire RB room collapse. Meanwhile, Indiana retains all of their coaches, has few transfers because all of the starters are upperclassmen that will be leaving, and fairly good health outside of a couple DL. Again, I’m not making excuses, as I think the Ducks lose either way, but all of those factors certainly played a factor in the outcome.

Plenty of criticism to go around, just pointing out that if Dante comes back, I just don’t see the realism of bringing in another legit portal QB to provide competition. The Ducks NIL budget clearly isn’t limitless, so allocation of resources has to factor in. I would frankly much rather focus on throwing money at the positions like LB, OL, etc.OregonFan4Life wrote: Fri Jan 09, 2026 9:07 pmTerry’s scouting of World and Harkey was a big waste of money compared to developing the tackles we had. Granted Wilson did get injured but he’s a better RT than Harkey.roleplay3r1 wrote:Like the idea of that, but the CFB landscape is a mess and any solid portal QB wants $$$. If Moore is back, he’s getting a big chunk of change. I think the struggles of World and particularly Harkey for much of the year shows us the NIL budget maybe can’t afford to bring in another QB if that means skimping on OL again.OregonFan4Life wrote: Fri Jan 09, 2026 8:13 pmI agree he has a ton of talent and there is something to work with. I do think we need an OC that can develop a QB and I wouldn’t be opposed to bringing in another QB to force Dante to work for it.Bigwaved wrote:You see that throw from Dante and see why the claims of how he should go away look irrational.

Quackinbama, again plenty of criticism to go around. Watching Dante wasn’t easy tonight. I would ask you, how soon we forget our boy Bo? The kid was almost literally chased out of Auburn for much of the same criticism, yet showed huge growth later in his college career. All that to say, your extreme POV of Dante could benefit from some perspective that growth is huge at this position. This roster, a year older, with a cooler head on Dante does big things next year.

Also can I say, even though Indiana is just clearly the best team in college football this year, it freaking sucks to see these huge game all play on the east coast. How demoralizing turning on the screen and seeing nothing but red.

In the past 3 years, the Ducks have only lost to teams that played in title games. The last 2 years, only National champs (I just don’t see Indiana losing next week). People are on here acting like they’re churning out 5 loss seasons or losing to bad teams. You all handle adversity worse than you claim Dante does.

Who wouldn't have taken 13-2 and semi finals at the beginning of the year? With a 20 year old QB with 5 starts and pretty much new O-line?

Need to recruit better on the O line. They beat us to death there. Harkey and World( until he made a business decision) got smoked constantly in this game and pretty much any defensive line with a pulse.
Oregon will never win a natty until we fix our o line recruiting. This is two years in a row it's been the weakness of the team.
That being said, It was a great year and I'm thankful to be a Duck Fan and an Oregonian.

And Cignetti had a solid foundation to build upon? Got smoked twice by a historic bottom dweller with a two year run, with supposedly less talent. Cignetti broke all barriers because of his coaching acumen. Did lightning strike? Possibly. But Cignetti will do more with less, in a shorter time, than what Lanning has been afforded. Love Lanning, but throw the bank at Cignetti if he doesn’t opt for the NFL.dthomas=ddixon wrote: Fri Jan 09, 2026 9:13 pmCompletely agree. Lanning is 0-3 in same-season rematch games: Washington, Ohio State, and now, Indiana. It's not the losing that is so hard to take, it's the way his teams have appeared so utterly unprepared and flat in these games. The biggest games require the most mental fortitude, and that has been absolutely lacking all throughout his tenure.

Here is where I’m at going forward, we got players, we need a better coaching staff. Lanning is the man, that can’t change. But we need some upgrades at the following:
DC: Tosh is a meathead playcaller, I do believe in Hampton though and want to give him a chance.
OC: Yeah enough said. Stein was garbage and did not know how to lead an offense.
QB: See above, Stein was the QB coach and Dante did not develop from his UCLA days. He makes huge mistakes in key moment and is rattled and doesn’t progress. We need someone that can coach him up instead of trying to draw up cute plays.
DL: Can’t help but wonder if there is some nepotism. Tuioti is good but does not generate enough pass rush and Matayo was put in a position I don’t think fits him but there was no backup plan to replace Burch. Wyatt should’ve gotten WAY more snaps, it’s inexcusable Tuioti got as many snaps as he did with Wyatt and Purchase on the roster this year.
OL: I do believe in Terry but dude needs to stop hitting the portal and rely on the young guys he’s developing. We might have been better off with guys like Crader and Wilson (I know, he got injured) than World and Harkey. Those two transfers were exposed big time against anyone with a good pass rush. Plus Cornelius literally got worse last season and that has to make you wonder. But getting World and Harkey felt like a panic and a waste of money with the young talent we have in the OL room.
LB: Mixon played bad tonight after playing so good. But LB’s needed a transfer and he didn’t take one. He needs the be the opposite of Terry and take a transfer LB if necessary.

Re: CFP SF: #5 Oregon v #1 Indiana (Jan. 9, Fri 4:30 PM ESPN)
lol all these extreme takes[and that's coming from me!]
1. Coach Terry is difficult to judge. We survived a season with a patchwork line with so many players going down. That said, both tackles were exposed in the last 2 games. It's almost as if someone said before this season even began that this OL was going to struggle this year..... (hythloday)
2. Cignetti isn't leaving Indiana, they have him locked in a contract over there
3. I'm surprised Dante struggled so much. He looked like a stellar QB over most of the season.
4. It's unreal the amount of excuses I've heard people give to Stein to justify his mediocrity over the last 3 seasons. I said after the 1st season he was here that he should have been given the boot, and I already knew he was going to cost us the season (see Texas Tech post). Glad I never have to think about him again.

I disagree with pretty much everything, but the main points that jump out at me is that you somehow think Dante hasn’t improved at all from his UCLA days, that Tuioti is not playing well enough to be earning his reps, and that they should have gone Wilson and Fox would have been better this year than Harkey and World.OregonFan4Life wrote: Fri Jan 09, 2026 9:27 pm Here is where I’m at going forward, we got players, we need a better coaching staff. I’m not saying those 2 don’t have the potential to be better, but both were extremely young, and despite their flaws, World and Harkey largely did their job. Yes, they didn’t play well today, but I think they would have been much worse off starting the year without Harkey and World. Plus, the lack of depth would have killed then if Fox or Wilson got injured. They have a lot of really promising young talent, and they are working their way towards needing the portal less going forward, but Terry did not inherit a talent laden room. They needed the portal the past few years to give the youth time to grow and to build the depth in the OL room. I would be surprised if they take more than 1 starter at OL from the portal this offseason.

Meh, I mean Dante maybe improved a bit but not as much as he should’ve, and I think he largely looked better due to being on a better team moreso than being a better player. He can’t handle being hit and panics way too quickly when the pocket collapses, I’ve been at multiple games and I can say from the stands you can see how many times he misses open receivers and it’s quite a bit. Sometimes his progressions/anticipations make him look more like a true freshman than someone in his 3rd year of college. With that said I want Dante back, dude has a ton of talent and if Lanning makes the right hire at OC/QB Coach he could be lethal next year.
And Terry absolutely deserves the benefit of the doubt and you can’t pass up on a guy like Pregnon, but all season World and Harkey didn’t hold their own against anyone with a good pass rush, they just feasted on teams with no pass rush. Going forward with the recruits and young talent we have I really hope he starts using it more.
And Tuioti is good no doubt, but who is the one player that actually sacked the QB? Nasir Wyatt. There is no good reason he shouldn’t have seen the field more this season especially when it showed Tuioti and Matayo were unable to generate a consistent pass rush. Also the technique from our edges leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to pass rush, seems like the last few years it’s just try to bulldoze the tackle.
