If Sorsby is getting 5 Million, Dante is probably getting something that offsets the first year of a deal in the NFL perhaps? so thats somewhere between 8-12 million as a cap hit, where he would be taken?
Being picked by the Jets would net him around 30M$ in 2026.
He's not getting 30M from Oregon so nothing in NIL is going to offset that.
For him its about being able to enter the league prepared to earn a massive 2nd contract which would offset the loss of income in 2026.

Dante has some good advisors (and coaches) around him to have him think of the long game. By the time next season ends, he could have an additional 15-16 starts under his belt, which would put him at 35-36 for his career. That's basically the ideal number for being a top-level QB in the NFL.
What people keep referring to with QB experience is essentially Bill Parcells, who wanted a 3 year starter who was a graduated Senior with a 60%+ completion percentage and a 2:1 TD:INT ratio.
CIgnetti is a proponent of this in his talent evaluation process as well. He wants enough statistical data he can project the player's numbers if placed in his scheme. I almost think Cignetti wouldnt take high school players at all if he was able to.

I don’t think it’s that totally. It’s the fact that the last 10 years the only QBs who have been successful have over 30 starts in college. The only one below that, who is now successful but it took years, is Sam Darnold.

I suspect that it ultimately came down to money as opposed to getting another opportunity to compete for a natty. He made sure that his 2026 deal offsets the opportunity cost of not entering the upcoming draft. Or maybe he just didn't want to play for the Jets
Who in their right mind would want to play for the Jets!
The Jets reddit on him is a riot. Because he is making a "poor financial decision" he is a terrible pick low intelligence and is doing them a favor not being there allowing them to miss the next bust. It is truly impressive mental gymnastics position. Its the jilted lover saying I didn't want him anyway...

As a redditor I shouldn't be amazed that The Jets have a reddit but I am. That feels like the equivalent of waking up on the wrong side of bed every single day for an entire lifetime and putting it into text.
