11 point lead with 2 minutes to play. Pretty good week after the USC win. Even in a down year, Altman finds a way to finish strong like every February.

Fun win!

I hate to be that guy but while this seems to be some late season turnaround the last few seasons the midseason slumps had gotten quite extreme, we can’t continue to afford such awful midseason slumps. With these last two wins Altman deserves the chance to turn things around and make the tourney next year but while Altman has historically gotten credit for these late season turnarounds he deserves blame for midseason slumps that can really hurt the team’s chances of a deep tourney run due to low seeding.

Wow another fun game! As bad as this team has been, Altman still finds a way to make Oregon better in February. Per the norm…

Anyone else hearing that Shelstad intends to transfer?

Really didn't see Oregon beating Wisconsin this badly tonight. It was great seeing them hustling for loose balls and causing all sorts of havoc on the defensive end. Also helped they were hitting their shots at key moments, especially Bittle, Evans, Simpkins, and Wei Lin.

Dunks, fast break baskets, conference high shot blocks, alley-oops... Things that use to define Oregon basketball for decades showed up last night.

I think last night's game showed us what Altman had in mind for this season's team when he constructed it. Bittle and Evans really can be a huge advantage in the post and if there is any level of consistency in guard play, the team looks really good. It's too bad they couldn't look like this more often this season, but at least it is nice to be ending on a higher note, especially if this ends up being coach's last season in Eugene. Keep it going, Ducks!

I think the whole season boils down to the loss of Shelstad, because they didn't have anyone else to initiate the offense. I'm sure Altman would have loved to have a competent backup PG, but I wonder if part of the trouble has been finding a guy willing to come in knowing that there's an established starter at point that will be there 2-3 more years. Shelstad is very unlikely with his build to be able to head to the NBA early (obviously not happening now), so there wasn't ever much chance of the spot opening up. Lin isn't a true PG, though I suspect he could have filled in more capably if he had more time to learn the offense, rather than getting to campus a few weeks before the season. Carter is what you'd expect from a walk-on PG, and Simpkins is more of a spot-up shooter than a PG. His game got hit hard with Shelstad out, because it leads to him having to find his own shots a lot more, where he's much less efficient. He was lethal as a spot-up shooter. The midseason slump this year can completely be attributed to Shelstad and Bittle being out simultaneously. That's not even a slump, that's just missing your 2 best players mixed with a relatively difficult schedule.

If Oregon had Bittle and Shelstad healthy, they're easily at .500 with them likely pulling off at least a couple more upsets in the Big Ten besides easily beating Rutgers, Minnesota, and likely USC at home.

Likely not enough to be a tournament team though.
