RB Coach Ra’Shaad Samples charged with DUI
That’s a bad look, I wonder what his punishment will be and how this could affect the 2026 season. He’s lucky he didn’t kill someone, he needs to get help.

Ya not great. Curious to see how we handle it as well.

He backed into another vehicle and the cop assumed he was drunk. They didn't give him a sobriety test. Doubt they get a conviction by serving his defense reasonable doubt in a silver platter.

They didn't give one, or he refused one?spacefrog13x wrote: Mon Jun 01, 2026 11:14 pm He backed into another vehicle and the cop assumed he was drunk. They didn't give him a sobriety test. Doubt they get a conviction by serving his defense reasonable doubt in a silver platter.

I find this extremely hard to believe. With Oregons soft on criminal policies and weak DA’s as soon as the charges crossed the DA’s desk they would have been tossed. You either fail a FST or refuse one in order to be arrested and charged. Even if a suspect is incapacitated/unable to perform a FST for whatever reason LE will request a warrant for a blood draw and wait for the results to come back before a DUI charge and arrest. Even with a refusal they will bring in a DRE (drug recognition expert, yearly certification and must maintain a 97% correct evaluation assessment) for the purpose in securing a warrant for blood draw and testimony in future court proceedings.

Wonder why this video just surfaced now, many months after the incident.

Looks like the o rag hired another guy who is just going to go after the ducks. That’s been the norm for 20 years. I bet money Clark could have dropped this video a month ago, but waited until camp was starting.

Re: RB Coach Ra’Shaad Samples charged with DUI
The radio guys on 1080 who read The Oregonian's story said that Young (the driver of the other vehicle) decided to show the video to the media because he didn't like the way Samples had handled the incident. Apparently, Samples was trying to pay Young off to make the whole thing go away, and Young had told him he wasn't ok with that. His quote was allegedly along the lines of "leaders of young men shouldn't handle themselves that way."Wonder why this video just surfaced now, many months after the incident.
And honestly, he's not wrong.
I'm not going to sit here and say anyone should be fired. The Ducks are in the hunt for a natty, and I don't think any national champion has ever run a completely clean program. But man, this is such a bad look. I know these coaches are great at their jobs, but it's so hard for me to imagine sitting in a recruit's living room and convincing the parents that he'd be a good role model. But I don't play/coach football, and I know there are worse slimeballs in the business, so whatever. Hopefully nothing like this ever happens again. Hopefully he's a great guy who just made an insanely dumb mistake.
EDIT: What I'd really like to know is if Samples was trying to suppress this video, then how much did Dan Lanning know about it? And does Samples' conduct in the video match up with how Samples described the incident to him? Would be pretty wild if Lanning kept a coach on board who'd lied to his face. I guess we'll see what happens.
EDIT EDIT: The fact of the matter though is that local journalism is pretty much dead and this isn't anything more than a mention on ESPN. This won't be mentioned again after a couple days from now on any platform that gets any real attention. And it will be forgotten once the Ducks start winning.
Willie Taggart is a dick.
