Welcome to the new world. It makes sense since Playoffs is the goal, but man our non conference schedule from here on out is going to be BORING.

Oregon's non-conference schedule would be the envy of every SEC school with how many cupcakes they'll face. It won't be until at least 2030 that Oregon has an opening for a P4 non-con game in the regular season.

Yup I’m paying some extra money this year to attend the Oklahoma state game this year just cuz we may not have a decent non-conference road game for 5-10 years.

Do I like this? No. Do I understand why Oregon is 'cupcakeifying' The OOC schedule? Yes.

The fact is that the system rewards or at least does not penalize pathetically weak OOC schedules. This has worked for the SEC for decades and served as an element claimed superiority of that conference. Viewed with hindsight or the 10,000 foot view, the total W-L record or win % matters more than strength of OOC, especially if you add a narrative that your conference schedule is so tough that cupcake (and extra) OOC games should not impact your team's or conference's perceived greatness.

The biggest loser is the fans who get fewer games worth attending or tuning in to.
