Chip + smart kids is a recipe for some really weird offensive things. Our Dline should hold up OK, but I fear Chip is gonna feast on our LB.

Re: Anyone else kinda worried about Northwestern
Letting Chip go to Northwestern (got to think he probably would've come back if he got an offer) was a mistake. Dude won a NC as an OC two years ago. Can't be a HC if you don't recruit. But OC is a good spot for him.
Northwestern will be a challenge this year. Their defense is good at making games ugly. Our defense is kinda iffy against the run. Not too worried with the game being at Autzen. @Illinois is a scarier game, imo--they pushed Ohio State well into the fourth quarter.

Can you find me a time that a QB like Chiles beat Lannings D? If a QB can’t throw, we will stack the box and force him to beat us with his arm.

Civil war in 23 I believe but that was kind of a perfect storm situation.buckmarkduck wrote: Sat Oct 03, 2026 9:03 am Can you find me a time that a QB like Chiles beat Lannings D? If a QB can’t throw, we will stack the box and force him to beat us with his arm.

Even if we stack the box, our LBs have not really shown instincts this year. Have seen them go with the flow and get caught picking the wrong gap too many times this year already. That’s what I’m worried about because the wing-T stuff kills unless everyone sticks to their assignments perfectly

Honestly, I'm more worried about UCLA, but Northwestern is much improved.chapelhillduck wrote: Sat Oct 03, 2026 7:07 am Chip + smart kids is a recipe for some really weird offensive things. Our Dline should hold up OK, but I fear Chip is gonna feast on our LB.

People thinking Chip forgot ball are idiots. He’s still one of the elite offensive minds in all of football.
His offenses were pretty damn good at UCLA and tOSU. Pete Carroll is an egotistical old man yelling at clouds about how great he is so I’m not surprised he and Chip didn’t work out.
You give Chip a smart QB and a smart Oline and he will gash you.
