Pretty sad that Neb can recruit and land Oregon's (presumed) 2 best D linemen in the last 5 years. Bottom line is that should not happen. I would even slightly understand if it was USC, but Nebraska? You kidding me?

Everyone else seems to have covered my point...our defense under NA is okay at best and NEB defense looks amazing right now and the Suh factor just makes it worst. We need a dominate defense to lure top player like our offense. I agree that our DEs have had good success but if you were to take a national poll our defense doesn't look so great! It sucks!dthomas=ddixon wrote:What does NA have to do with this? Chip & Azz are the ones recruiting Owa.briarduck wrote:Ya none of that sounded very good, especially the report after the Bo visit...if this gets NA fired than its worth it because this is unacceptable in my mind!

Wanting to see and experience new things is understandable, but Nebraska? There is nothing to experience in Nebraska unless you want to experience some flat land. From reading articles ect. it looks like we will prob get the shaft in one way in recruiting this year. Hopefully we can land King.freedjr wrote:Family oriented or not, maybe he wants to get out of Portland. There's something to be said about getting out and experiencing new things. If that's what he wants, it's something Oregon can't offer.
It would suck, but he's got to do what he wants. As I said about Allen, I hope he listens to his heart and is really happy. Of course I hope he has a major change of heart and really wants to stay in Oregon. I would just hate him being unhappy here and staying just for mom.

I agree with you on NA's defense. I don't think he's a good D coord & really wish we'd get someone else. Its just lame when people start blaming everything that goes wrong on him. If we miss out on Owa it will not be NA's fault. We get plenty of 4* star talent on D & a lot of it is BECAUSE of NA... He just doesn't do much of anything with itbriarduck wrote:Everyone else seems to have covered my point...our defense under NA is okay at best and NEB defense looks amazing right now and the Suh factor just makes it worst. Re: AMP Weekley Whispers: Owa
I really don't get all the Aliotti hate.
The guy has proven that he can give us a good defense on a year-to-year basis. Last season, we lose the Purdue, Utah and Oregon State games without great defensive schemes/efforts. The only offense that really abused us was Stanford. Our defense didn't lose the Rose Bowl... Pryor playing the game of his life (and his receivers making some lucky plays, and our offense leaving points on the field) cost us the Rose Bowl.
People seem to have already forgotten that we played most of last season without our two most talented and experience cornerbacks... and without Kadu, who was arguably our best pass-rushing linebacker... and we STILL had a very respectable defense!
Get a grip, Duck fans! Be happy that our defense isn't a giant question mark every year. Yeah, it sucks if we miss out on King and Owa. But it's not the end of the world. NA (and all the coaches) have a long track record of finding quality players to fill the team's needs. Have faith in the coaching staff.
The future for the Oregon football program is very, very bright.... with or without NA.
In my opinion, hopefully with him.

Re: AMP Weekley Whispers: Owa
I don't see why Nebraska would be surprising. They had a great defense last year. They finished the season strong and are supposed to be good next season. Look at what Suh did for them. Oregon hasn't had a player like that since Ngata, and they aren't known for their defense. I wouldn't want to live in Nebraska, but it's not like Owa would be going to some lesser known school.

For the most part, I agree. I honestly think Bellotti held NA back. I would like to see him for the next two years before starting up the fire him chant. Which in the interest of full disclosure I've been on a few years ago!pezsez1 wrote:I really don't get all the Aliotti hate.

NA...some hate him. Some think he is a "ok" DC. But I have never heard anyone say he is fantastic or a guru. I want someone on that level. Here is the issue with that...we dump NA and find some up and comer he blows the PAC-10 away for a couple years. Guess what happens? He leaves to be the HC some where and we are stuck looking again. I'm not saying keep or dump NA, but it is an issue when, by all accounts, he likes it here and wants to be around a while

This is CK's 1 st year as head coach and Azz's first year recruiting and have done a great job.
They were extremely close at getting the # 1 or #2 DT in the nation. I would bet that the Ducks out recruit the Neb even on the D-line the next few years and beyond. As the saying goes " In Chip We Trust "
As long as we can keep putting up 10 win seasons on a consistent basis i think we can consistently bring in a top 15 to sometimes top ten class.

Never put words into my mouth.FIFY
Seriously, are you guys blind? The Ducks would never have even sniffed the Rose Bowl last season if not for NA's defense.... nor would we have won the Holiday Bowl the year before.
I'm not trying to pass him off as the world's best D coordinator, but come on! Our D was playing lights-out this season before Thurmond, Glasper and Kadu went out. And even after they went out, the D continued playing at a high level, with the exception of the Stanford game.
In a league filled with high-scoring offenses, we can't ask for much more than what we have, and what we have is pretty good.

So when we gave up 34 to Purdue our D was "lights out", how about when we gave up 41 to Arizona? Were we lights out then? Our Defense is very average and will continue to be very average under NA, and if we want to compete for National Titles we can not settle for average.

Re: AMP Weekley Whispers: Owa
The first couple of games aren't very good barometers for the season since the team is still figuring out what works so the 34 to Purdue is not really all that bad. Also, the 41 against Arizona came after he said the D wasn't same after WTIII, Glasper, and Kaddu went out so that hurts your agrument a bit there. While our D wasn't tops in college football this year, it was easily better than most years for Oregon football. The thing that hurts Oregon the most is that all 3 position groups weren't equal in talent level. The DBs and LBs were good this year, considering all the injuries back there, but the DL was the weak link due to the lack of depth and size. Until Oregon is strong at all 3 position groups, I don't think we'll really know how good our D can be.fecta23 wrote:pezsez1 wrote:Never put words into my mouth.FIFY
