It will take donors stepping up with Arena Fees for season tickets next year for Kent to save his job. How many more wins will that take? He does not likely have enough chances left. Will sweeping Wash and WSU bring fans back I doubt it. Remember I was told Kent won't likely make it to coach in the Pac 10 tourny. A sweep might allow him to coach in it, perhaps. But that was the reason He was going to be out by the tourny was to avoid him making a run in the Pac 10 and then having to oust him with some mild increase in support.

It really wouldn't help the team if he was gone before the Pac-10 tourney because the assistant coaches wouldn't do any better; they could have been worse.

The point is not that Dunlap will do better than Kent this year it is that if Kent wins a couple games in the Pac 10 tourny, it makes it a harder decision to move him out. But it is not whether he is somewhat capable. But has Kent done enough consistently over the years? No. Could we have been worse? Yes. Can we do better with another coach? Yes. Do we need donors to step up and are they with Kent in there now? No. Would bringing Few, or another coach like Tubby Smith generate excitement and importantly now, more donors to step up and buy Arena seats?

Bob Rickert's column was really good today....."Does it mean Kent will be there to open the new arena? No. The time required for him to develop players once they get to Eugene is taking too long for him to put together consistent winners."

So Kent supporters need to step up and support him with $$$. Or we are faced with changing coaches, because he has not generated enough support through years of inconsistency, mixed with a few good years. He has done some things well, just not enough.
