The perception is based on performance, which, IMO, is directly related to the quality of coaching that has taken place, not whether the job location itself is truly more desirable.

So is the job at Gonzaga so desirable because basketball is BY FAR the biggest thing they have going for them and the school and fans will bend over backwards for them? Or is there something else?

People think it's a better school than Oregon since they've had a much more success in the NCAA Tournament than Oregon.stewbertwilloughby wrote:So is the job at Gonzaga so desirable because basketball is BY FAR the biggest thing they have going for them and the school and fans will bend over backwards for them? Or all of you are dellusional on who you think we can get...Gonzaga isn't a better program, they just have lower expectations which makes it a better coaching job...our coach got fired for taking us to the Elite Eight twice and not getting back...there's still has his job with never bringing them there...Yay Mark Few hahahahahahahaha...wow what an upgrade...good logical decision making...whohoo for consistent mediocrity

Huh? Ernie has never been to the final four... He has been to the Elite Eight twice but that is the farthest he has ever gotten....He made it to the final four in the NIT twice but I do not think that is what you are talking about...

You're right. Oregon, being a Pac-10 school with an assload of money, does expect more than a mid-major. Unfortunately, that mid-major has been way more consistent than our program at achieving success. Few has taken a school with basically no major draws to the sweet sixteen multiple times and recruited one of the better players of the decade there in Morrison. Few would be an upgrade. He's done more than Kent and he's had a hell of a lot less to work with.pudgejeff wrote:Or all of you are dellusional on who you think we can get...Gonzaga isn't a better program, they just have lower expectations which makes it a better coaching job...our coach got fired for taking us to the Elite Eight twice and not getting back...there's still has his job with never bringing them there...Yay Mark Few hahahahahahahaha...wow what an upgrade...good logical decision making...whohoo for consistent mediocrity

Exactly, of course Gonzaga looks like a better job because they are winning! But when you look at the real issues, Oregon is cleary the better spot. A typically strong conference. A brand new arena. Recruiting would be easier at Oregon than Gonzaga. Also, we can offer a pretty nice salary to an incoming coach.woundedknees wrote:The perception is based on performance, which, IMO, is directly related to the quality of coaching that has taken place, not whether the job location itself is truly more desirable.
Oregon.
