I think Few would be great and he has excelled given the limitations he finds himself under. Who knows what he could do at a major program/conference/facility.
I don't think that making it to the elite 8 twice automatically makes Kent a better coach than Few. Gonzaga has beaten several top non conference teams over the years, while Oregon hasn't. Kent also had more talent to work with, and you cannot really fault Gonzaga for losing to a team as good as Syracuse in the tourny.
look at this years Gonzaga'S team.. no real super stars but id take Boldin and
Elias Harris. both would be great on Oregon's team.Boldin is the kinda guy
id want the ball in his hands at the end of a game. we don't have anyone like
that. very well coached. they know there roles. if he's hired i wont be disappointed Altho id rather have Dixon or Turgeon.

Until Few can prove his teams can play any sort of defense, I say he's not as high up on my list as like a Dixon or Turgeon.

Pac 10 schedule > Gonzaga's non conference schedule
Has Mark Few ever beaten a #1 rank team in the season? Pretty sure EK has done it twice.
ultimately I believe Mark Few = Ernie Kent
If Few is a better coach I think it would be marginal.
Both coaches play perimeter oriented offenses and crappy defenses.

Just for argument's sake though, what has someone like Turgeon accomplished that Few hasn't? I know the WCC is weak, but what Gonzaga has done under Few has been pretty incredible. They have gone to the tournament every season, and that is with playing tough non conference schedules. Few isn't my first choice, but I think Oregon could do much worse.

I'm not in love with Turgeon either, but I do like the way his team play's defense.... neither would be a home run imo.
Home run hires
Dixon
Pitino
Mike Montgomery (should have went after him when he was available)
Tubby Smith
Monty Williams
Desperation Hires
Bennet
Turgeon
Few
Any up and coming coach
Few and Turgeon are desperation hires? Seriously? Two guys that have done great things at their programs, with local ties, who have plenty of experience in the tournament, who are nationally known, are desperate? Completely untrue. Just absurd. Few has made Gonzaga into a nationally known program with unheard of success for a mid-major. But since, what, he hasn't been to the elite eight we're too good for him? He's coaching at freaking Gonzaga! That'd of been like knocking Kelly because New Hampshire hadn't beaten any top 25 teams. And Turgeon has brought success to a major program in a very competitive conference at a school without a huge basketball tradition who lives in the shadow of Texas. Some of you guys need to really temper your expectations. To think that we need someone like Dixon or Pitino (btw, how did Pitino even get brought up?) to be successful in our hiring process is setting yourself up for disappointment. I hope we get Dixon (I don't believe the Izzo rumors at all, otherwise I'd put him on my dream list), but to get Few or Turgeon would be fantastic.

I'm not saying it does, but playing in a much weaker conference and never making it past the sweet 16 makes you wonder if Few will be able to win at Oregon. And tbh, I am not ready to take that kind of risk.
And as others have mentioned, Few's teams are never defensive oriented, and play a similar style to what we do here at Oregon. I would love to see a defensive mentality, which is why I'm a huge supporter of having Dixon as our new head coach.

Any coach that comes here should install a strong defense because it can help make up for lots of deficiencies on the offensive end, while a strong offense doesn't always do that. Plus it would help get rid of the Ucks moniker that fans give us since they seem to play no D.

I really don't think Turgeon is "nationally known" or considered a top tier coach in the country.
He's only coached 3 years at Texas A&M and he inherited a good team from Billy Gillispie.... before that he coached 7 years at Wichita State and only made the tourney once
I'm not saying he wont be a good coach, but I don't think he would be considered a home run hire.
